AEU = Known for frame issues and moreso, causing stutters... especially stutters from 5-8 miles out which fools one into thinking it is not the AEU textures causing the problem, but it is.

nice textures but beware of the cost.

I don't use it because of the stutters. I thought about reworking the textures but have not had time to play with it.

I agree with Nick - and the new textures take seconds to load when you start up, rather than being ... right there. Also, to me the new textures make the environment look more artificial - I've never see runways look so uniformly streaked, or taxiways so regimentally criss-crossed with clean paving. Or buildings look so squeaky clean and new. At least with the default textures, there's an element of grubbiness about it all that reminds me of a lot of the real-life airports I go to!

To be honest. I feel that the benifits far outweigh the costs. OK, so some of the actual textures aren't that accurate, but it's a darn sight better than the stock, even if it hits on frames. Do you guys just use stock, or have you got your own textures?

Cheers,
Alex

Stock, and I also use allot of payware airports. The ones I fly in and out of most are payware and include their own set of textures for the airport. FlyTampa airports have excellent textures as do many others. They just forgot to mip-map them which I did myself to get rid of any stutters or flashing from the distance. The freeware Boston Logan did not mip-map their daytime ground textures... once I fixed that it was an even better add-on.

The problem with AEU is that if you are in an arrea like KSEA where Boeing field and about 10-15 other airports are in the area, you get slammed with micro and hard stutters out of no-where. I cant stand AEU because of that. I would prefer never experience the stutters. It takes away from the reason I fly FS9... to FLY, smooth and like a bird... not stutter around in a turn.

I really wish that a developer (like George Grimshaw) could build a new set of textures. If they could be anything like the taxi/runways in KBOS, many people would be willing to pay money for it, I know I would.

Alex
