Hey Guys and Ladies, Always nice to ask questions knowing the answers will be so helpful.
I have information that is very old and yet is still very useful. This information is stored on cassetts . My question is : Can this info be transfered from the cassetts to DVDs ?
Appreciate your input.

Wow-ze-flippin'-wowzers....
...!
There's a teaser for you...!!
Interesting...!!
I have lots of quarter inch, tape cassettes, containg program data from my old 8-bit Sinclair Spectrum computer days....
Fortunately, most of it is available via the Sinclair Spectrum site....
...but as to text data on tape, it would have to be transferred as audio data bits (zero's and ones) to the PC from the tape recorder machine via the sound card, and converted back again into readable text on the PC and then saved to anpother medium...CD ROM, CD, Floppy disk, etc...
Fascinating idea...!
Needs a specialised piece of software to run it...
...anyone...?
Cheers cave...

Human voice audio, music and the like can be done onto the PC using a sound recorder such as Freecorder. Then just connect the tape deck to the input on your soundcard and away you go.
Computer data I'm not so sure about, the old ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 tapes might have an excessively high bit rate...

Hey guys, appreciate your help. Ozzy, could you tell me where to get the "Freecorder" ? Is there other info that would help me ? These cassettes are mostly "human voices speaking".
Hey Fozzer, very interesting about the procedure of how it works. Also - - appreciate the correct spelling of cassettes. My cave dwelling dictionary was copyright last in 1966 and don't have cassette in it.
Always wishing you Guys the best, caveman

Just google it and you'll find hundreds of places you can download it from. The free version only does a maximum of 30 mins at a time. There are other audio recorders out there you could try. I never record more than 30 mins at a time so I don't use 'em...
