Ok I had looked forward to this years Rockstar due to the fact it has three of Hard Rocks greatest, Tommy Lee, Jason Newstead and Gilby Clark looking for a lead singer for a supergroup.

Well too my dismay there doesn't seem to be that much talent, or at least the contestants didn't show much last night.
There were a few good singers and the ladies did better than the guys but I was disappointed, I thought for sure they would have some killer vocalists .

Personally I find it hard to like a singer that will state that they are "original" then go on stage and perform a song Karaoke, sounding exactly like the original artist.

The only one that was really original was the guy that did Roxanne by the Police, of course he destroyed it completely with his own style and song arrangement but hey he was ORIGINAL. So was the scary chick that sang the Nirvana song (I wondered if we would make it past the first episode without being inflicted with the songs of Nirvana or Pink Floyd, but we didn't, so it may be another season of being beaten to death with crap songs, come on contestants there are way to many awesome rock songs to sing than that! ).
Oh and forgot about the guy with self proclaimed "soul" sounded like he was gagging on a chicken bone instead of adding any soul to the song.

And yodelers this isnt American Idol, you are competing to front a hard rock band! You don't hang a note and change the pitch a hundred times in hard rock!

The reason I will watch Rockstar instead of these other "talent" shows is due to the fact the singers must perform with a live band, not taped music which allows them to be all "polished". and most of the contestants are actual working artists with some talent not manufactured voices with a pretty face.

And this season the song choice is more important due to the fact the three contestants with the lowest number of votes, must compete against each other to see who gets voted off. Since Supernova is a new band they have no old material for the contestants to sing (unlike last year where they had to do a INXS song) So elimination nights should be something good to see.

All in all I saw maybe 5 that have a chance, but still am overly disappointed by the choices.

Whats your opinion? Is this season going to be worth keeping up with? or has Supernova been stuck with very little talent to front what could be one hell of a Supergroup?
