do you brits do their driving lessons in petrol cars? in holland its all diesels, which in most cases can drive off without touching the gas

Any vehicle diesel, petrol, big or small can drive off in any gear without using the gas pedal as long as you are really gentle with the clutch.

That only works if you know your way round the test area. I hate the test area so avoid it at all times. And so a wrong turn might make it all the worse for me.

The test route with no roundabout is Broadford on the Isle of Skye. It also has no traffic lights and no junctions. Grin

I would suggest doing most of your lessons round the test routes ....... that way you know exactly what's comming and no suprises. Most of the bods from the Islands actually do their tests in Inverness... which makes following learners in Inverness rather interesting at times.

I know you're a pro driver Eno but you obviously haven't driven some of the vehicles I have.

PS. It's accelerator. Gas pedal indeed. Roll Eyes Tongue

basically if your horn, airbags, seatbelts work and tire pressure is good; and you have valid insurance, your good to take the test.

whats invlovled in your test? all i had to do was pass the following
>turning
>backing up
>backing while turning
>parallel parking
>uphill parking
>downhill parking
>the various signs and streetlights we come across.

the only roundabout (creatively called Suicide Circle, despite the very low accident rate) is about 10 miles from here, a bit far to learn something i used to live by. I find it easy to drive, most people don't.

i aced everything except backing while turning. i thought we were changing direction. so a point marked off for that. big deal, i still did great.

and common sense is something i usually leave behind at home. and when i'm at home, i seem to leave it in the car. Roll Eyes Tongue
