there is a method where you can use beta 2 (not sure about beta 3) without installing it

this way you can use the beta while FS can still use the normal IE

Have you considered using the excellent "Mozilla Firefox", as an alternative browser to "Internet Explorer"...?

f.) Allows file transfer at approx 15KB - 100KB faster than other browsers tested.

Firefox V1.5.0.4
a.) Allows and has administration function for "add on's"
b.) Demonstrated issues resolving  DNS, especially regarding proxy server implementation. This included "Auto Discover enabled" regardless of protocol.
c.) Homepage (earthlink.net) occurs in more than 90+ seconds (through proxy accelerator which I fault here)
d.) Demonstrates DNS resolution issues and has general issues with DUN accelerators, (whether set to auto detection or not).
e.) Handles web accelerator proxy with speeds approaching 32.KB with an average of 0.17 KB (netstat live data) on Dial up from my location.  Demonstrates severe DNS resolution issues and appears to have generalized issues regarding "wait states". this browser is well geared for the "high bandwidth" market. Of course, user infamiliarity with program settings should be considered here.
f.) file transfer is slow and cudgy with refreshes needed often. Could not establish resolution on non proxied (accelerator assisted) issues so the NON CONECTION and non RESOLUTION issues are here as well suspect at the present time.

All in all, Apples an Oranges, and all that. I will stick with MS IE7 Beta 3 for now. Truth is, my dialup sucks, and Earthlink went down the tubes since Sprint bought them out. This being said... pay no attention to the results above as I am CONVINCED that over 98% of ALL issues I experience on a RAS session are directly related to the ISP and the included OEM software on my maching (HP Pavilion a1350N) and NOT the browser.

I kid here (and no I'm NOT a goat) there is an axiom in the PC business I live by.  That is, If it aint broke, don't "fix" it... since I support Macintosh AND Intel platforms I encourage folks to stay with what they know best. This is the only strategy for support personell.  Ugly things can happen outside of this montra.
