Well, I'll bet $100 that M$ is going to fix that glitch with the smoke effects and it looks like they disabled the crash detection for this particular demonstration.

That was depressing...

Helo dynamics still suck, they still spin out of control when flown backwards..  Undecided

Has it ever crossed your mind that the helo sucked because the pilot sucked or maybe they didn't know how to fly a helo with an X360 controller? Grin

Again, don't jump to conclusions.

also you do know helo's can only fly backwards quite slowly. Go too fast and yes they do spin.

I never saw this one either. Especially if the video lasted this long.

The worst part of current heli dynamics is the tendency to kick back with rudder input.  With a real helicopter you can do full 360 turns using the tail rotor, but in FS you do 360 one way then get kicked back the other way.  I can sorta handle the helicopters in FS, but my abilities are limited by the flight dynamics

My uncle flew choppers for the RDAF for over a decade, he can't fly FS helos for his life. Tongue

Just watched the video, the heli dynamics seem better, but the guy flying did a horrible job.  He went too fast and tried to slow downt oo quickly, and when he tried to fly backward he pulled back too hard

In FS9, I can handle choppers at high speeds, but at one stage or another, I'll spin out.

There is always the turbulence issue with the soundbarrier.  The helicopter blades must always be below MACH1.  The outer part of the blades move faster than the inner parts of the blade, but when you fly backward, or forwards to fast, at some stage, the blades will go close to MACH1, and thats when the out-of-control part starts.

I don't think this is the reason why helis should be handled slowly whilst flying backwards, but so what! Cheesy  Just remembering my physics. Wink

To be more understanding, when a heli is moving any direction, the blades that are moving "towards" the direction of movement gain more lift than the blades moving "away" from the direction of movement.

So if I flew a heli forward and that heli's rotors are rotating clockwise, the heli will have the tendency to bank towards the right and I have to constantly apply left pressure on the stick in order to compensate. The higher the speed, the bigger the tendency.

This is called a "blade-stall" effect.

I once played an old game called "Apache Havoc" from Razorworks. In this game, the blade-stall effect kicks most of the time as I try to hurry up to reach a waypoint.
