I was on a night cross country to Albany GA a couple weeks ago. As I was coming into the area the tower told me to go downwind and report. So I went to the downwind and reported. They told me to extend for a larger traffic, but then a minute later they gave me the option to jump in... so... I did. And I just turned that SkyHawk into a SkyRock, power back, 180, flaps, slip, nice touchdown and a short roll. Well apperently the tower was impressed and complemented me, so did the regional airliner behind me. I was so happy and my instructor was pretty proud of me for having the tower notice! I love night flight.

That reminds me of a landing I made at Bay City, Michigan last year. I was cleared to enter and land from and extended, left-base. About a mile out the tower said, "There's a regional jet on a 5-mile final.. land and clear, no delay.. or turn for an extended downwind". I flew right at the numbers, lining up and flaring at about the same time... off at the first taxi-way.

Sounds like you have the feel and instincts that can't be taught..  Well done.

Ain't that a great feeling? Almost makes me want to fly to a towered airport in the hopes of hearing something like that again...  Grin

Wish we had such nice tower controllers around my area.
Dont know about them, but it seems they've made it to a culture to constantly bitch to us who arent able to keep 160kts until 4dme...

Just one more summer and then I am able to...*dreams away*

Good job on the flying  Smiley

A lot of the smaller towers in georgia are usualy nice enough. But the thing is that most app/dep/enroute goes through like 2 Atlanta frequencies and FSS is down in Macon. And Atlanta is like airtraffic capital of the world so they dont like talking to someone who does not know what to do. Although I think I was on with Jax center the night I was talking about.
