Well I don't want to fly it... (BIIIIG target?)
Hope it has a military crew though - anything other would be a direct insult to the skill and professionalism of our armed forces...

And a 777 with Big BA titles on the side isn't
At least this one might take a cue from air force one and have some countermeasures on board.

Ah, but there are a lot of them. This one will probably have Cherie's cheesy grin on the side...

*Sigh*
What's wrong with using the RAF Transports? (I'm pretty sure those in "high places" in the UK like the PM etc are transported around by VC-10's etc, but not 100% certain, anyone want to help me out?)

VC-10 have the small problem of being too noisy to go anywhere near a built up area. All the Tristars are busy (even the Falklands route is now chartered), and the HS146s don't have the range...

Would they really use an L1011? It's just so outdated..

So overall there is a need for a somewhat new mode of transport for Blair, the Queen etc?
However, when the RAF get these A330 refuel/transport thingies perhaps one of those might be able to serve as a VIP transport...

The tristars are doing some serious work at the moment, those poor work horses dont ever seem to get a break.

Not for a military purpose...
I'm afraid the A330's will either be earning their keep as tankers or being filled with fare paying customers. However, I wouldn't be surprised if BF1 was an A330 to help with engineering commonality across the service.

Well I think the Queen deserves an aeroplane. Remember the poor woman has lost her yacht.

Not only are VC10's noisy one the outside, you cannot here yourself think on the inside too
Matt
PS was listening to the radio today about this, and it was reported that it would probably be a 737 that would be fitted to seat 250 passengers
Most probably to cover President Blair, Cherrie' hairdressers, spiritual advisers, general kling-ons and the press. All I could think of, must be an ex Ryan Air or Easyjet aircraft.
