Can anyone recommend some good automatic backup software to go with my new external HD?

Looking for something where I can specify folders and be confident that it will backup the changes on a regular basis. Preferably just the changes, and not spend loads of time tying up the processor and spinning the disks.

Any thoughts?

MS Backup... it comes with XP pro and you can install it from the CD with XP home. It allows you to select drive, folders, or single files and also allows you to select between full or incremental backups (incremental = only if file is changed or updated). It can be set to automatically backup whenever you wish.

This would have been my 1st choice.....but my PC came with a recovery partition on the HDD and no disks (thanks HP!). I have a WinXP recovery disk for my work laptop (except it is a single CD, not a full XP install disk) would the MS backup be on there?

If running XP Pro it should already be installed.

MS Backup should be found as a option in your control panel in XP Pro.
