I'm sure this subject has been raised b/4, so apologies if I'm repeating it. Would it be beneficial, upgrading to 2004. I currently have 2002 ( not pro). Although I'm happy with it, are there advantages with 2004, over 2002 i.e. add-on's etc. Will 2004 add-on's work OK on mine, regards scenery & aircraft? Thanks.

well if you're thinking of upgrading anytime soon, then my advice would be dont.
FSX is going to be out relatively soon so it would be a waste of money to get FS2004 now.
having not use my FS2002 for years i really don't know what advantages there are, but you should hold tight with FS2002 if you're happy with it, and then you should get FSX, then you will notice one hell of a difference.
hope this helps
cheers

It really depends on your rig.
Mind posting your system specs? The reason I say this is because if you dont have a rig that is ready for FSX, you might aswell upgrade, or go out and buy a new computer when FSX actually comes out.

Well, I've been using FS2002 Pro for over two years now (bought a promotion version, in French, but made in Ireland, on one of my vacations in France for 20 euros: how EU minded can you get....) and I'm perfectly happy with it. It works well on my 2001 computer. I find that most FS2004 add ons (scenery, aircraft etc.) work pretty well in FS2002. It's a matter of experimenting.
Recently I also bought FS2004, again, at the bargain price of 20 euros, and this works much better than I expected on my old PC. Most settings at minimum, obviously.
Although FS2004 has much nicer weather and better default airports, to mention some of the improvements, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be with the possiblities. For one thing, the GPS system in FS2004 gives a lot of information about airports etc., but the navigation maps are a bit too cluttered for my taste. I prefer the simpler FS2002 GPS.
We'll see what FSX brings, but I'll need a new computer first...

It's a sad day. In order to free up drive space, I've just uninstalled FS2002...
Although in reality I haven't used it since I got FS9 a while back, since the newer sim runs better on my rig than FS2002 did.
Adieu, FS2002...

Did you know that the map can be decluttered throught the options page on the GPS. It provides various options to remove certain things on the map.
Check out my PAYWARE quality, FREEWARE release of DominicaX.

Certainly, I know the FS2004 map can be decluttered, and I use that option, but still I find the old FS2002 GPS easier to use...
