You are extracting the urine...!

Note that most of the prospective display pilots are unable to make the display for various reasons...
...whereas...
I am available for any Multiplayer session, at any time, so I would have thought that everyone would be welcome to participate in an Air Show, irrespective of which aircraft they care to display at the time, from Microlights to F-16's...which is what an Airshow is all about.
Most of the aircraft being static displays...!
..am I wrong...?
I possibly am...!

Of course your welcome Fozzer, and I don't know where you got the idea that you weren't welcome, along with the GA stuff. An airshow wouldn't be an airshow without GA, so how about a show from your microlights?

I might be flying as part of the BBMF formation in a Hurricane (still waiting for confirmation from Mictheslic)
I have also made a nice demo in the hurri that im testing on the simv server right now.
I think it looks great from the air but i need some people to evaluate it from the ground Smiley

its the AH hurricanr Mk1 package that im flying at the moment, untill mictheslic confirms the plane to use.

...you two may not have noticed, but in previous Sim V Airshows, there were a number of visitors, etc, who popped in just to display their static aircraft, and increase the numbers on the ground, to enable some good screen shots to be taken of the whole show...!
Everyone doesn't necessarily have to be rushing around the skies all the time, trying to impress everyone else with their aerobatic prowess...!!
...trust me...!

I am always more than happy to pop in with with one of my delightful Microlight aircraft, just to illustrate the ever-popular, affordable, and realistic method of taking to the skies...!

The more visitors, like Katahu with his Chevy, that can be encouraged to attend, the better, and more popular the Airshow will be....
Wink...!

My advice would be to encourage as many folks as possible to attend, irrespective of what part they take in the Airshow...
...Merely to observe the rules whilst an  aerial display is in progress Grin...!
...simple...!

Timezone will be whatever UK local time is now! What with DST it's made things too confusing.

You're quite welcome to sit on the ground and spectate, there's absolutely no problem with that... in fact, we even encourage it. More people to show off too! Grin

Though the idea of static aircraft will be too much of a problem. Causes extreme FPS hits for those flying, so you just see a dot jumping across the sky... doing what it shouldn't be, because the pilot is working with 4fps! Wink This is precisely the reason we want anyone spectating, to be sitting in a low poly aircraft, being used by everyone, to reduce any framerate/server lag issues. E.g. the default Schweizer.

It would work by an organiser saying "This is a WW1 fly-in" or "This is a short-haul passenger jet fly-in" or whatever.  Unfortunately when it was first suggested, many people replied "But I only like fast jets" or "But I want to fly an Airbus" etc.  So the idea of a theme which would restrict the aircraft available, never got off the ground.  I was very disappointed by that.

As they say in the classics, here's one I made earlier:
...
It's just a simple transparent cube with a CGI character quickly textured onto it.  This one uses 6 polys, I could do it on a flat polygon and only use 2 polys!  I know there's a technique for making the poly always face the viewer, so no other textures are needed.

People could take photos of themselves (dressed up as if attending an airshow) and we could paste them onto polys and actually let them walk around the airfield.  A SimV rogues gallery!

Does that sound reasonable?

Gryshnak

Edit: Ah, I think that bit about polys always facing the viewer is only for static items.  People walking around would be different.  But even a front/back textured character would be worth trying.

Hi Guys.

Formation can be fun.....as with all shows, can be good IF you have the same planes loaded.

Just to whet your appetite, I have added a screenshot of me flying the VC10, after a refuelling exercise, and the fighters are formating on me. This was all done at a VA called Raf Virtual, where you are trained to fly like this.....imagine this flypast at the airshow.......

Quick! resize! and upload here please... Roll Eyes

Everyone can take thier own photos - surely most of us have access to a basic digital camera?  One from the front and one from the back so they can be double sided, then you can see who's coming and who's going!  I can make a basic aircraft template in FSDS3 for walking around, anyone who can repaint a plane can easily paste a bitmap onto it and save it under that user's name.

At 6 polys each it's gotta be easier on the frame rates when a bunch of people get together to watch the airshow.

For the human cube could you not just take a picture from the front of you, the back of you and the 2 sides and paste tehm onto a transparent cube to give you a 3d person?
only 1 problem with it however...everybody will have to download each other which could cause some problems.

3d is to much,  the 2d would be enough. And scince it is the size of a person we could give all of our "repaints" to one person to upload in one file. The overall size should be less then 3mb so even the slowest internet connectin can get it within a few minutes

Hi all....second attempt (not a lot of bottle with Technology...lol   Grin

Right, this is a screenshot I took after a Refueling exercise with Raf Virtual. As you can see, formation flying can look pretty impressive. Imagine seeing this at the airshow. We have  (and still do) performed airshows on the FSFDT free server, BBFM, Heritage jet, etc.
I like the idea, but unless you can see the other aircraft, out goes the realism. We try to do up a freeware package for distribution to anyone taking part on the night......would it be worth doing here !!!!!!!

I was quite surprised how capable at Aeros it is. I'm trying to think when I'm going to be free for a practice. This Sunday will probably be the earliest. Busy few days and evenings at work...

Good to see the show back...

Exocet_UK and I are planning to actually give a pairs routine this time using models much easier on frames so hopefully formation will be possible this time round.

After the Hawk demo, which didnt quite go to plan, this time we plan on giving everyone a bit of French Flare flying our 2 Mirage 2000 aircraft....

Sure thing guys, basically, on a set date/time, on a set server, we all meet up and arrive at the airport where we'll hold the show, and there is a programme of displays, but due to people dropping out, not being here etc, the programme always seems to change Cheesy

(The server will either be Sams' or Ramos' and the airport is yet to be found - but we are searching for one Roll Eyes)

Can I just pick a bird and fly in? Or does everyone has to have that particulair bird too? I believe that when you don't have the AC installed you cannot see it right?
