BGLcomp.exe problem (Read 562 times)

All i really use BGLcomp.exe for is to compile flatten and exclude files.

I have ExcBuilderV2 to make the Exclude files.
BGLcomp was working fine, then all the sudden is just would not make the .bgl files. Before it was working perfectly  Angry I drag the .xlm file onto BGLComp.exe...and nothing happens.

It will compile other files that i used to place effects (like fireworks and stuff), but not Exclude files!!  Angry

until this is fixed my scenery design is at a halt.  Cry

Please help!!!
thanx in advance

Typo??..Bglcomp.exe only does .xml files    Wink

You don't need to drag and drop with ExcBuilderV2.

With ExcBuilder open, click 'Setting' and make sure the 'BGLComp.exe location' is correct.

Use the 2 buttons available; 1-'Generate Source Code' and then  2-'Save source and generate .bgl'. (Uncheck 'Delete source after compilation?' if you want the .xml saved.)

In any case, for BGLComp.exe to work, the file 'Bglcomp.xsd' must exist in the same folder.

When you did it this way:

Did Excbuilder generate the .xml file? (Make sure the 'Delete source after compilation?' box is unchecked)

*Did you check that the <Settings> 'bglcomp.exe location' is correct?

*Did you click 'Generate source code' FIRST?...(the .xml code should show in the 'Source code' pane.) and THEN 'Save source and generate .bgl'?

If either of the above are wrong, Excbuilder will not show any errors but will only generate the .xml file.

Ref. your first post:

Is bglcomp.exe still working ok with other .xml's?

Did bglcomp.exe ever work with Excbuilder?.....if not..

How did you generate the .xml file with Excbuilder?

Were you dragging the 'exclude' .xml to the same instance of 'bglcomp.exe' you use for other .xml's?..

..or did you place a copy of 'bglcomp.exe' in your Excbuilder folder (or elsewhere) for easier drag&drop?..

.. if so, did you also copy 'bglcomp.xsd' to the same folder? 'bglcomp.exe' will not work without it.

Let's see how these sort out and work from there  Wink

I keep bglcomp.exe and bglcomp.xsd in my C:\WINNT directory. Since C:\WINNT is in my path environment statement, I can call bglcomp from anywhere. Programs that are built smart enough have no problem with that and I only have to copy to the folders of programs that are poorly written and don't use the path environment statement or have an ini/cfg file that keeps track of the location. I also don't use drag and drop but rather a command prompt so I can see what is going on when compiling and I see if there are errors and in turn fix them.

I don't use FSDS so can't give any FSDS specific help:

Does FSDS give you an error message? If so, what?

Did you recieve my e-mail and try that method to see if bglcomp generates any error messages?

Dave

Edit: Have you tried refreshing the 'bglcomp.exe' and 'bglcomp.xsd' files from the FS2004_Bglcomp_SDK?

...also MSXML 4.0, required by bglcomp.
