I found this with a quick search on Google. http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/enc3/tupolev_tu-144

In service

The Tu-144S went into service on December 26, 1975,  flying mail and freight between Moscow and Alma-Ata in preparation for passenger services, which commenced in November 1977 and ran a semi-scheduled service until the first Tu-144D experienced an in-flight failure during a pre-delivery test flight, and crash-landed with crew fatalities on May 23, 1978. The Aeroflot flight on June 1, 1978 would be the Tu-144's 55th and last scheduled passenger service.

A scheduled Aeroflot freight-only service recommenced using the new production variant Tu-144D aircraft on 23 June 1979, including longer routes from Moscow to Khabarovsk made possible by the more efficient RD-36-51 engines used in the Tu-144D version. Including the 55 passenger flights there were 102 scheduled Aeroflot flights before retirement of commercial services.

It is known that Aeroflot still continued to fly the Tu-144D after the official end of service, with some additional non-scheduled flights through the 1980s. One last report showed that it was used on a flight from the Crimea to Kiev in 1987.

You mean was used, as the aircraft hasn't flown for years, and is missing its engines.

Russian news announced that the Tu-144LL (77114) was recently sold for scrap as well as the last Tu-144 built (77115).

Apparently CCCP-77115 has been saved from scrapping.

Only really commercial operated one was Shermetyevo - Almaty, and that for a maximum of 50 or so pax flights.

Afterwards it was operated for the military. which basically means that it operated from any airfield that has the runway length and surface to safely land it (basically, all bomber bases)

Plans did exist for transatlantic flights, but these never became reality. Possible routings: see map here, but i dont know which engine variant was done by Thomas Ruth in the FDE (so you might be stuck with 4000nm max)

http://perso.wanadoo.es/tu144sst/fleet/pictures/cccp-77115b.jpg

Couple years ago I saw this picture on a web site that said it was in LA. Is this true? Is this even a real picture?

Looks like a fake pic to me... logos don't match the real CCCP-77115, and the nose cone is suspicious too (too flat on the top)

I recognize that location.  That's Santa Monica Airport looking north toward Century City.  I've been to that airport.  It's a general aviation airport, though Lear jets fly our of there.  I'm not sure if it has the runway length for a SST.  Why would it fly there since LAX is just about 7 miles south of that airport?  But there is an aviation museum there.  Maybe that's why it's there.
