Hi all
I'm working on my thesis and as all you must guess i have to make the plane following the FAR rules.
I have Solid Edge V16 and FSDS3, i want to know if exist any converter who can change the
*.par, *.asm specially, to fsds/gmax or the
*.iges, *.igs, *.jt, *.sat, *.step, *.stp, *.x_b, *.x_t, *.xgl, *.plmxml, *.ems, *.stl
Thanks in advance

Well, you could try some of these converters:
http://www.davidhsmith.net/Essential_Tools.htm
Or perhaps:
http://gameart.jaquays.com/model_resources.html
I have no idea if any of these will be usefull, as I don't have the foggiest idea what you're actually trying to do, but I know that the converters on the first page have helped me imensely. I have used one of them to go from FSDS to Gmax on occasion (can't remember which one, exactly).

Does the program export to DXF? If so, export the mesh to dxf and import directly into gmax, or import into FSDS through the CVA converter.

You should never use CAD geometry for realtime models !!!!!!
It produces waaaay to much unnecessary geometry that
is nearly impossible to reduce afterwards. I could list dozens of reasons not to us CAD Data.
Especially iges/step are actually NURBS formats.. wich makes it even more complicated. The only tool I know that converts iges in an acceptable way into max is PowerNURBS. But this is a plugin for max.. and probabely won´t work with gmax.
and it´s still not a solution for realtime models.
I sometimes have to use CAD Geometry for (non-realtime)
visualisations.. and even there it´s just a "pain in the a**"
Get familiar with Gmax.. it offers anything you need !!!
cheers

IT's probably because the dxf mesh is too dense. For example, I've played with converting/importing Milton's Beech 18 gmax model into FSDS.
On first import, the CVA exporter croaks - times out or whatever.
Basically, I started importing the dxf mesh about 20 parts at a time, and bringing it into FSDS that way - merging sets of parts rather than a complete mesh.
You can try creating several fsc files composed of about 20 parts each, and then merge the converted FSDS (fsc) files into the one project.

Felix exist any converter since dxt to gmax??? an external program than dont need gmax, i found a new 3D program with which i can make a lot of things easier than with just fsds, but i need a converter since fsds to it, it accept almost all the 3D program’s files, among themselves 3d studio max, so how can i export since Blender (like it was 3d studio or gmax) to fsds.
another questions, gmax is no longer available so how can you install it again, it always ask for a serial but the old one doesnt work, so how do you install gmax??
thanks

#1 - gmax (1.2) can import dxf and 3DS files directly.
#2 - gmax is in your FS2004 disc 1 "Extras" folder
Check the Simviation utilities for the gmax registration workaraound. I'm surprised to read that gmax isn't available since I checked turbosquid and they still have it.
Remember turbosquid (
http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax
) is the official gmax support page. Once discreeet decided not to support it further, support for gmax got transferred to turbosquid

You have to install a gmax to quake md3 exporter, convert the md3 to dxf with a converter suich as deep Exploration and import with the CVA converter into fsds.
