ILS approach (Read 655 times)

how do i do them i don't understand i usually just find the heading of the runway and put that in the course as well as the heading and put the ILS frequency in the NAV1 and NAV2 just incase and it ends up guiding me somwhere completly different.....if someone can guide me on how to do an ILS better then the airplane thanks

That's pretty close.

1. Runway heading in COURSE.

2. ILS frequency in NAV1 (NAV1 is the only one that can control the autopilot.  I usually keep the local VOR in NAV2.

3. Switch your autopilot from wherever it is (heading hold or course hold) to approach hold (APR).  That's what will lock you on to the ILS beacon.  Remember to intercept the beacon from below.

If you are still having problems I strongly suggest you take the lessons on this as it will help alot. 8)
