Finally some details about the really important stuff....... and it sounds promising.
The Microsoft FSX website has some factual stuff in addition to the various screen shots and videos we have been seeing around up til now. Here is a real nice tidbit relative to Multiplayer from their "Fact Sheet":
"Through increased online gameplay capabilities, Flight Simulator X offers players a connected world where they can choose whom they want to be, from an air-traffic controller, pilot, or co-pilot as they interact with other aviators from around the globe by chatting in real time via headset and keyboard."
Utilized under "Fair Use"
Sounds like they "stole a page" from GatesTo on the pilot/copilot thing and clipped a bit from VATSIM with the possibility of adding controllers and voice comms. This will likely "kill" the need for FSNavigator for online "radar".
Interesting indeed. I am finally seeing info that I
LIKE
about FSX.
Hopefully they have fixed the multiplayer connection problems too.
best,

Maybe we can do "Joint Ops" multiplayer flour bombing missions?
And I wonder how many flour bombs an add-on developper can pack into an F-15 Strike Eagle?

Oh god, can you imagine the mayhem that will cause?
1. Ozzy as our pilot *
2. Fozzer providing the in-flight entertainment **
3. Jared dying all hairs green and painting our faces white
4. Soui providing the straight jackets
5. Me trying to keep the needle straight while Ozzy goes inverted ***
* Oh crab! Seat belts everyone!
** I doubt Foz's church organ would fit in the cabin.
*** A scarey thought isn't it?

Guys, I think we are looking for so many things when there are 2 things I think we need on a basic level.
First of all, implementing an FSHost like system would be excellent. It should allow us to host on our computer THROUGH the sim, and also allow us to search for a server like you can on FSHostSpy in the sim.
Secondly, implement a Teamspeak like utility IN the sim so we don't have to run ts in the background.
Those are 2 basic things, but adding in some other things like traffic radar like on FSNav would be nice as well

Jake,
I agree that the basic connection needs some attention. Anyone who now flies online knows the issues the current system has.
Not sure that I want the integrated sound for voice comms though. Not unless thay make it possible to split the voice comms off to a separate sound card. At the moment, Teamspeak is on a second computer...and my headset fro online flying dopes not have anything BUT comms coming thru it. FAR more realistic.
But they already said that voice comms was part of the new deal.
Of they have the capability to do ATC online.... then a in plane TACAS should be a snap. Hopefully thay will include it.
