Well Trance to be exact. I dont know what it is about it, but I've got this huge thing for trance. 4 Strings, DJ Testio, DHT, Foggy, Gabriel & Dresden, and the list goes on and on. You see it all started....well.....here. You see about a year and a half ago I started posting on the V. Usually lingering in the screenshot and humor forums listening to mostly Rock and Rap. However my music taste changed somehow magically when I started posting in hardware. My playlists started dropping artists like Jay-Z, Eminem, Godsmack, and Disturbed for artists like DJ Rankin, and Cascada (yes I have been listening to her since she was considered underground). And as my hardware knowladge grew, so did my collection of trance. First it started with buying Ministry of Sound's "Trance Nation America." And just grew and grew. Heck I built Sheila whilst listening to 4 Strings "Believe" album.

But the thing I love the most about it is that for some reason even the techno haters like it too. I mean I have some friends who have this attitude that "Techno Sux" however I play them say "A Perfect Lie (Gabriel & Dresden's remix)" ~ The Engine Room, and they are all like "wow thats really good." Same thing with anything by 4 Strings or DJ Testio. I think I have it figured out though. People who are techno haters just dont like House, Acid Jazz, and the really hardcore trance. They need more of the euro trance, and their begging for more.

So now I ask to you Sim V Do you share my affinity for this genre, or am I alone?

Cheers
Cameron

No you dont. I'm perfectly sober, and listening. Its just like any other from of music. You just have to like it. Its like me and 80's rock or heavy metal. I cant see how anyone would ever listen to that crap, however people do and I respect that.

Cheers

Most people don't know what it's like to actually mix and even make these songs on the decks. Being a DJ myself most people think it is easy but when i let them even on my computor decks they seem stunned and can only press play/stop, ff/rw. As for Trance, I think it's one of the most calming genres around, and DJ Tiesto RULES!! Wink

Eh Tiesto is old. I prefer Gab and Dresden over him anyday.

And I know what you mean. I personally use Virtual DJ (mostly as its got everything I need to mix up stuff), and most people can only figure out how to flange, and my best friend only just figured out how to scratch.

I dunno if it counts, but since my sister introduced me to Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyk, my interest in electronic music has been rekindled.  I've always liked electronic music, but I had never found an album worth listening the whole way through.

Trance?  I dunno.  I don't bother with subgenres.  It's all electronic to me.

Paul van Dyk, DJ Tiësto, and Ferry Corsten are by far the best.  Of course there are a lot of good lesser artists.  I heard Paul Oakenfold is a bit of a pri*k.

DJ Tiesto is indeed a musical Genius. I have Tiesto in Concert 1 & 2 on DVD and im starting to get a few of his albums including Parade Of The Athletes and In Search Of Sunrise.

What is your favourite song?
I like Adagio For Strings or anything else by Tiesto but Vibration by Dark Alliance is a good song too I think
