Is anyone successfully using Chase Barnett's CD Radio upgrade for the C172 ifr? If so, where do you get the music? I have the radio on my panel. All six presets are empty. The instructions say to "right click" on a preset button then "simply browse to the song . . ." Browse where?
I'm really looking forward to listening to some long-hair while I travel. 8)

The gauge is 'Radiocd4' by Robert Clark. It's a freeware gauge available at many sim sites.
You actually have 12 presets, 6 each on 2 'bands'.
It's best to have the Sim in 'windowed mode' (alt+enter) while programming the presets, otherwise the 'browse' window can get hidden behind the sim.
Select a band, right click on a preset and browse to music files you have saved on your hard drive. You can play .wav, .wma, .mp3, and .mid (midi). Select the file you want, click 'Open'.
It also plays tracks from audio CD's in your cd/dvd drive. The presets will play tracks 1 thru 6, the rest of the tracks are available with the 'previous track' and 'next track' buttons.
If you need to identify the various controls, goto <alt> Options/Settings/General and activate 'Show cockpit tool tips'. Each button will be identified when you 'hover' over it.

On this subject: I have a SERIOUS problem with this gauge. If its in a plane Im flying, the frames just drop to 10 or less. Any idea why it does this?

Jake,
Don't have an answer for you.
I've been using this gauge (radiocd thru radiocd4) since FS2002 and have never noticed any fps loss, whether playing music or not.
Do you have the problem all the time or only when playing music?
Dave

I have an older cd/mp3 player. I ended up taking the songs that i wanted and changed them to wav. files.
Don't realy recommend doing this cuz of the file size but it was the only way i could figure out how to get it to work right at the time. I had no frame rate problems doing this.
Double check that all your songs are in the proper lacation. thats all i have

Note: For Radiocd4.gau only. Earlier versions program differently.
1. The music/audio files must be saved somewhere on your HD in one of the usable formats.
2. Make sure FS is in 'windowed' mode (alt+enter to toggle from full screen to windowed mode) If it's not the 'browse' window will be hidden.
3. Turn the player On. Select the FM or AM band. Right click one of the Preset buttons. A standard Explorer browse window should open. Browse to locate and highlight the desired music file. Click Open. Repeat for the rest of the presets.
If that don't do it, you got me stumped.
