Borrowed it from a friend last weekend.
Thought it was the usual "big phat gunz slugfest"

Little did I know that this game was about to scare the living sh*t out of me.
But I still continue to play, despite knowing that my nerves probably would be better off without it.

I hate those weird flashbacks with the walking "zombie" who just turn into ashes after he has said something scary to you, and that little girl...she's the worst. I loath it when you see her shadow but nothing more, or when she appears in the ventilation drum out of nowhere and just goes straight through you. Think I emptied a clip and a half shooting at her apparition  Undecided

But I'm so intruiged by the game, I just cant let it go, even though I often feel uncomfortable playing it.

Anyone else playing this game?

Probably soon, now that I've got a video card that can handle it.  That slow-motion thingy is pretty fun to play with, sure makes normal speed hard though. Cheesy Wink

Wait 'till the game is over.  You wont have to go to the restroom in weeks, because it'll all be in your pants! Shocked

It's a great game, but I still dislike it.  It represents everything I think is bad about the gaming industry.  Basically: bad, uncreative plot.  There's also the whole one man vs. the world thing.

OMG!! F.E.A.R. has got to be one of the best games I have ever played. This is a true show of when Gameplay, Graphics, and story line come together. Between the sparks when you shoot something metalic, to the dripping blood, even down to the wonderful HDR effects in the game its graphically challengeing for any card (well minus the X1800, X1900, 7800, and 7900 but thats besides the point).

Anyway ya, the game is amazing. I beat it on easy, normal, and I'm working on hard now. Im only on "Alice Wade" and I must say that the random ambushes when your trying to rescue her are really annoying. Esp because I only have one mead pac, no gernades, and am running out of Assult Rifle ammo fast.

Cheers
Cameron

I'm about to give up now.
Seriously I'm not joking, Nexus is simply not meant to kill super soldiers while being haunted by Alma Wade.
I've always had problems with children in horror flicks, and well...that doesnt really help when playing Fear  Undecided

The plot (I know all about it) is up to par with Pet Sematary when it comes to a sick, disturbed story.

The scariest game I've ever played was AVP2-I ****ing hate giant things with exoskeletons that have acid blood, scamper REALLY fast and pop out of the dark.  But FEAR is dang close!  Got it for xmas and finished it that week, incredible game!  I'd still take HL over it however.

Soldier on Nexus, all that 737 knowledge won't count for squat unless you're able to apply it in the scenario of battling a battallion of super soldiers under the command of a cannibal with the help of an undead/supernatural/whateverthehellsheisitsreallyscary girl.

Wait, what?

Do finish the game.  It's well worth it.  Then again I bought the game because I was (and still am) so sick and tired of cliches in games.  At least the game gave me a good scare while delivering a tired cliche.

Got it, played, cleaned drawers out!  Wink

The story line was good for me but peeters out in the end. It's like the devs. said, "Ok, enough, let's get this thing on the market. Someone put an end to the story".

But worth the money to play. Great graphics and the scare-creepy factor is excellant IMO.

Well after reading all about this and then realizing I have had a pc for 6 months now that can handle this type game I went out and bought it.

And so far it is pretty sweet! still don't know what is up with this girl or what the incoming message "unknown" does when it makes your vision all weird but it is something I will look forward to playing for awhile.

I was however disappointed to see that there is a patch to take it from retail to 1.03 that is over 250Mb. This will take a month on dial up Sad Hell it takes just a week to find the download link on those crap sites they always put them on, Fileplanet wants a biography of you to download, Gamespy sends you to File planet all bull!

Anyone know where I can download this patch without using the ad infested take forever flash sites?

I listened to Beefs advice and marched on.  Grin
(and yes AVP2 is scare as shit, aswell, didnt finish that one  Tongue )

So far so good, those replica soldiers are eating lead like they were magnets. (is it just me or is the sub machine gun just a waste of space? Might as well bring a pellet gun)

I have to say it's been quiet now regarding Alma Wade appearances, but I guess it's just "before the storm"
Just infiltrated the headquarters, and we'll see what happens next.

Favourite weapon is the shotgun. A shooter isnt a REAL shooter if there isnt a shotgun available. Great for re-arranging faces of other people  Tongue

Hard to belive a 38 year old man can't sleep at night due to a game LMAO!!
I now see what is so scary, this game does sort of freak you out .

I agree the "staple" weapon of your arsenal is rather weak, the pistol is stronger but don't care for the Serious Sam double pistol . The assult rifle is sweet.

Don't care for the aiming of weapons you aim and your weapon is still off to the right sort of pointless. And you can't relly hit much without crosshairs on. takes away from the games somewhat.

Another gripe is the peeking around corners, you really don't peek at all in order to see around a corner you almost have to be around it, in which case makes the baddies see you.

But so far a rather entertaining game, with features I have never seen in a FPS before so I like it.

Played it three different times and was scared every time I played. On my fourth tour for grins I turned the cheat codes on just to have all the weapons. Now that was a fragg fest!!! Grin The little girl still creeps me out.
