Hi all - need a little advice here.

I've been working on an APU gauge for simpit use, that switches on the APU sound and activates an exterior-view heat haze plume from the APU exhaust port. The gauge works fine, and I have the gauge slaved to a keypress so that it's activated by Shift/Ctrl/P rather than a mouse click.

Problem is - it only works in 2D cockpit mode; as soon as I switch to VC (or the exterior views) using 'S', the key sequence doesn't work any more. I've tried putting the gauge into the [Vcockpit01] section, but that hasn't done anything. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, in a cold/dark cockpit, is there an easy way to activate the electrics rather than going through the startup sequence?

Thanks,
all.

Wink

To turn on the electronics in the cockpit without startup sequences (Ctrl+E) look in the assignments dropdown menu.  There should be a regular keypress to turn on the master battery and one to turn on the avionics.

Locke,

Thanks for the idea.

However, Martyn is working on a gauge for a SIMPIT....... where there will be no panel showing on any monitor.  What he is trying to do is access a panel gauge function he has designed (on a panel and gauge that is not currently displayed) via a keypress rather than with a mouse click.

What is needed here is a way to "toggle" the equivalent of the aircraft.cfg file function of electric_always_avaialabe=1 or the equivalent thereof.

The master battery assignment still needs to be available and kept a seperate function that is exactly what it says it is.  Remember that if there is no generator running on an engine........ the battery drains......which is NOT what is needed in this case.

Currently, a portion of the gauge code works exactly as designed using an assigned keypress to activate / deactivate one of the functions.  BUT....... this is only working when the panel that the gauge is installed in is displayed.

It is really needed to work when the panel is NOT displayed.....which is necessary for use in simpits where such panels are not displayed on the main FS machine at all.

best,

.....john
