chkdsk is a command to perform a disk scan and repair. The /F is a command parameter to tell it to run the fix any errors found. There are many switches (parameters) to the chkdsk command:

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs /en-us/chkdsk.mspx?mfr=true

The chkdsk scan should be scheduled to run at next reboot. If you reboot and the scan does not run, then you have to do it from the repair console as I mentioned in your previous post.

You might also try removing the scheduled chkdsk and see if that helps. Using Regedit, navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

Look for the BootExecute entry, double click on it and delete the autocheck autocheck * entry.

Look in Cavemans post in hardware, as this is basically the same question.
