Ever since I've moved my FS on another drive, AFCAD (the program) has being behaving, as stated in the subject, looney.

When selecting "open airport" in the menu (or the icon), from time to time it takes up to 30 second to give me control, during this time the program AFCAD whole seems like having being frozen, with the subwindow "collecting airports" halfway trough completion, and if I try to shut it down, Windows even tells me it has frozen and gives me the option to terminate it.

It's a problem that happens always one time every three if I close the program at the end of the editing, or every other try if I remain inside the program and open other projects. And, though not serious as I can use the program anyway, it's annoying as hell.

It never happened before, when I had windows on drive C. The "collecting airport" function of the "open airport" menu voice never used to behave like this.

Any of you know perhaps how to resolve this annoying problem? Any help would be appreciated. Smiley

I'm actually having the exact same problem, except mine freezes every time.  Now that you're talking about switching drives, I'm beginning to wonder if my afcad's behavior has anything to do with my reformat.

In your Afcad program folder there are 2 files that Afcad uses to keep track of things: 'Afcad.ini' and  'AirportIndex'. You could rename or move these 2 files so Afcad will rebuild them next time it runs.

The other possibility, is to move Afcad to the new drive. Afcad does not register with Windows so all you have to do is copy or move your Afcad program folder, with its contents to the, new drive. As above, delete the 2 files and Afcad will rebuild them as in a new 'install'. Of course you'll have to modify any shortcuts to Afcad.

I know already (having experimented) that deleting outright those files AFCAD does not freeze on me anymore (and it rebuilds them each time), but was hoping on a solution that had me not going into AFCAD's folder and deleting files each and every time I have to use the blasted thing.

And the deleting of files would not resolve things if I try to open different projects without exiting from the program first each time I close an airport.

As for changing drives, I have 4 logical units (2 partitioned HD's) and have tried put the damn AFCAD folder everywhere, even tried to make it start from a USB pendrive, and had the same problem of similfreezing everywhere.

Never had this blasted problem before. It's just annoying and, as in the subject, looney, as I know alright that AFCAD does not register with neither windows nor FS9.

Erm, Dave, wouldn't that solution apply to my problem too? Tongue

Try.

Move said files elsewhere (ie: don't delete them) and try. Worse thing to happen, move the files back in the AFCAD folder and you'll be back where you started.

Or as I have done reinstall afcad into the same folder as your simulator program.

Doesn't do anything at all, at least in my case. Tried to put the AFCAD folder everywhere. Even in the windows folder, in the FS9 folder, on a CD and on a USB pendrive. Same loony behavior as before.
