I noticed quite a few of you have been asking the same question a lot recently, so I was wondering if this thread could be made a sticky so people (mainly new members) can check this before asking the question Smiley

You've all asked the same question - "When I click the Change Profile button, nothing happens.... ???"

Okay all, to change your profile, wait until few people are on the forums to update. Wink Why it works, I don't know, but it just does..... Grin

the reason why the forums act up as such is do to the server itself.

think about it:

between people reading posts, dragging old ones from the dead, posting new ones, uploading screenshots, changing profiles, submiting polls, and then anything that happens in the background.

now you also have 20,000 members, at least 1000 people are on the forums every day (guest or member).

now the forum isn't suppoed to handle forums larger than 250,000 posts. we're double that, even with some pruning that the mods have done. so already the forum is on overload.

now the reason why we say "United states people, update your profiles AFTER 10pm est is because the crowd dies down for the night, and server load is lightened.

now i'm not sure what Pete's server is (specs) and his ISP, but those also play a big factor into how well the forums run.

thats all you need to know. Wink

Exactly, when updating your profile the script need to be rewritten and with all the activity on this site, sometimes it times out.

Just keep trying over and over, eventually you will get it to load.

The same goes for all other server-side procedures (i.e. querying the database with the search module).
