Just been watching the Hungarian news and a lot of memorial services in the east of Hungary among the ex-pat Ukraine community. Terribly sad Sad

I saw a documentary several years ago about Chernobyl.  The helecopter pilots were true heros.  The knew their overflights to dump concrete into the broken reactor would kill them.  But they did anyway because they knew that was what had to be done.

The true heroes are the 30 technicians and firefighters who were killed by the radiation while trying to contain the core directly after the explosion. Flying over head and dropping concrete is onething. Standing directly overhead and shoveling sand is quite another.

Actually a large portion of them wern't given a choice, because they were military. I'm sure they would have anyway.
