Wow guys, this is the best response Ive ever gotten to anything, thanks!
Mostly I think it was the lighting on the original that allowed me to get it this way, by playing with highlights and shadows I got that nice contrast and the shine around the cockpit. For the sky I used a graduated tint, added some glow, soft focus and voila!
Im gonna go through my screenshots and look for some nice ones to edit
