You helped design the Concorde...
I dunno...the Concorde was there in FS2000...I would really love to see some Airbus aircraft...A330...A340...I don't like to see Boeing's all the time...and AFAIK...the A321 is being modelled in FSX....

You know, I always found something curious about the FS Concorde.
The Concorde gauges were still included in FS-2002/2004 even though the plane wasn't, so they could be used in other panels.
But if you look at the HSI, it's got a NAV-GPS switch. There was no GPS in FS-2000. And one time I installed the Concorde off the FS-2000 CDs into 2004, and when I loaded it up, the panel was totally different from how it looked in FS-2000.
It's almost like they had intended to keep the Concorde, and were upgrading it for use in newer versions when it got the axe real suddenly.

I would like to see somthing like a concept section with jets with huge engines or that go super fast with vtol capabilites somthig to screw around with. They have games with concept cars why not jets. fs 9 was about the first century. Fsx is about the next so why not some concept aircraft.

The MS folk said at one point that they wouldn't do concept aircraft. But there's lots of third party designers who do them, I for one only do concept aircraft.

Oi whats all this about Concordes? ??? I really think that the Concorde is a great plane, made BEFORE its time; very advanced. It's retired, so I don't know about putting it in there... Good point though..... What I wanna see are some up-to-date Light single and twin engine aircraft like the Cessna's and the Beechcrafts.

What has retirement of an aircraft got to do with whether it is in a sim or not??

Get yourself a ride in a Socata TB9 or TB10.
As for Concorde it's sad that it wasn't included with FS9. After all it is called 'A Century of Flight!!'
I wonder how much the French government paid M$ to take it out!!!!!!

Hmmmm......... good question. What DOES the retirement of an aircraft have to do with it? I have no idea really, but, what he said about how much france paid Microsoft to take it out, most people might not want it in there. Just raising a point...

Why should the French government or anyone pay microsoft to keep it out of the sim?

I dunno if that is a legitimate point, as I am pretty sure that the Wright Flyer, Vimy, and Comet are well past their prime
. (yes I understand the historical theme of FS9, so please dont point it out to me

If you guys want to sustain yourself with these Concorde hopes, go to
www.flight1.com
and search for Concorde.
Get yourself a ride in a Socata TB9 or TB10.
Whats so good about them? High or low wing? single or twin engine? Just curious...
I would love to see some vintage WWII and WWI planes maybe, like the Spad. And WWII like the P-51D or the P-38J lightning

Those were more directed toward vintage, not military I believe. Yes I understand they were indeed military planes, but that is most likely not reason for them to continue with newer military planes.

The FS2002 Vought Corsair was straight out of CFS2 & I suspect was added as a convenient extra. The Sopwith Camel was in FS98, FS2000 & FS2002 but neither were included with FS9.
As for Concorde, the terrible Paris accident happened some time before FS2002 was released. I suspect that Microsoft no longer wanted to be associated with it. Also, if I remember correctly, the release of FS2002 was delayed by the events of 9/11.

I read an article on CNN's website that one reporter was testing FS2000 to see how it looked after hearing that the terrorists used it for their training. The guy was awed by its realism and accuracy. After that, M$ decided to rearrange the scenery in FS2002.

That terrorist stuff is pure garbage . . .
Saying that someone could learn to fly, operate and crash an aircraft into a building (not really that hard, anyway) just from using FS is like saying someone could learn to do drive-by shootings by playing Grand Theft Auto. There's just no comparison to the real act of doing something so disgusting and vile.
As to this thread's ORIGINAL idea, I've been looking around at what's new aircraft-wise for FSX. I noticed that they have several new aircraft already shown: Maule, Beaver and Grumman Goose. I was looking at images of the Goose (trying to get a front-end view) and noticed that in the following two shots, there are two versions of the aircraft: one with outboard floats and one without.
AVSim Shot
FlightSim Shot
Does this point to an increase in multi-model stuff? In FS9, the only aircraft that have more than one model are the Cessna 208 and the Lockheed Vega. I'm fairly sure they won't include the Lockheed Vega in the new release, so that leaves the Cessna. Could it be they are branching out, making more models for the stock aircraft?
I realize that FS is more of a modder's paradise than anything else, but I do think it would be a good idea if the quality of what we buy could be somewhere close to the quality of what's available out there.
For instance, how many of us would simply discard (or render unusable) the stock Goose if it were less visually enticing than one of the others available online? I know for a fact that if it doesn't match up, I'm simply going to delete it and replace it with the Lynn and Bill Lyons version. No thought needed.
So where does that leave the stock aircraft? After all, there are replacements for nearly every single aircraft in FS9, and I KNOW that there are replacements, all freeware, for all the currently known new stock aircraft of FSX.
So are all of the designers over there just getting shafted because they aren't using their talents to the full, or is this the limit of their abilities? If it is, by all means, go hire Lynn and Bill! They have the talent and the want to do this stuff, and they're doing it for FREE right now! They're stomping MS into the dust with their versions of aircraft, and most of it they aren't even getting paid for.
Anyway, that was my rant for the day. I'm gonna go replace the car oil now.
