i really would like to push for this. we could use an RSS feed for the fourms, se we can keep on the low-down quicker.

i'd like to do it myself, if i knew YaBB and it's code. but im currently learning Java and Xcode (for mac)

I see a lot of these RSS icons on several websites. But what is it? What does it do?

what an RSS feed does is take news headlines, sports scores, you name it, and distributes it to people who subscribed to it via a news aggregator.

now news aggregator could be anywhere. places i've seen them:

Firefox
Thunderbird
Outlook Express
Google Personalized
for macs: can be used for a screensaver
itunes
MSN
Safari
the new IE 7
trillian (via an addon)
that was just to name a few.

podcasts also use this script

here's a pic of my google personalized (this was taken om my mac)

the RSS feeds here:
NBC 5
Wired News
Weather
Gmail
my blog (www.drumlineramos.com/blog)
...

and they always update when updates are available.

Ramos- I'd love to offer RSS feeds but how would it work here? SOUNDS like I would have to keep finding news items & posting them......  ??? Roll Eyes

A LOT of extra work  if that's the case .....

I'm sure there must be some auto way ..

I'm pretty sure there are automated ways of doing it. In blogging software, it is done automatically as things are posted.
I'm not sure if it would be possible to implement an RSS feed into the forums but it certainly would be possible to do on the main page where updates are put.
Personally I don't know how to do them myself but I know there are ways that they can be done easily

yeah doing an RSS in a forum is a stretch, but having an RSS on the main page, all it has to say is in the picture.

now thats just a way of how it would look, it could be customized to have all new links, news, etc... this just gives you a thought of what it could look like.

so bam, i get up, go to my computer, and bam, i get the latest info that a new civil jet has arrived. fast food airplanes... whats next? Tongue

...
