hi all...

last week i started work on a little project of mine.... nothing big, just a little plane i had in mind

i made it in 3dmax in a couple of hours, (what a difference, might i add)  and now i want to export it to FS

but it´s been quite a long time since i last rigged my gmax to export properly, and now i gotta do it again in 3dmax (if at all possible)

so... can anyone refresh my memory on how to setup the exporting rig for FS (MakeMDL, MDLcommander and Middleman.... what files go where... etc)

cheers everyone Wink

Moach as far as I know the new ver. 1.2 of Gmax has made middleman and mdlcomander  pass away,Trust me I try all my resources It won't work so use this new Gmax version  ,download on the web,or use the Gmax .exe inside of the first disk FS9 inside of a folder name extra, after you instaled Download the Gmax sofware development kit In the or Gmax Game Pack sdk ..here

http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_downloads_sdk.asp

execute it and link it into C/Gmax or D/Gmax /or wherever is already instaled, and don't forget to change the measure into a metric not Inches Also ...reset scale, reset scale, reset scale, reset scale, reset scale, reset scale,.LOL

Hope this Help!

Well, actually, I'm still using MDLCommander and MiddleMan, and nothing seems amiss with mine.  You just have to set it up different for exporting scenery.  Since the new version of MakeMDL doesn't work like the old one, you have to remove the two extra programs from the export path.  Easy enough--just keep a copy of the plugins in another folder labeled "plugins-bgl" in the gmax folder (or 3dmax, in this case) and then exchange the two when needed, renaming the aircraft exporters "plugins-mdl" as needed.

A for how things are set up, I'm not sure.  I am not at my home comp (I'm on vacation!) but I do remember that the real MakeMDL is named mkmdl and the MDLCommander is renamed makemdl.  I think middleman is named makmdl, or something like that, but all the files should give you the names when you download them.

Export to FS2004 from Gmax then edit the *.XML file's location and drop it onto BGLComp then place the *.bgl in a scenery folder with the textures in you-know-where.
