Seems to be a bug in the notification system here
First the link to "notifictaion" doesn't work at all and second, I'm never notified of any replies
(which is why I tried that link). That's pretty annoying for I don't remember where I post and it's pretty difficult for me to follow a discussion
.
Any suggestion?

Is that the thing to get emails of your replies?
Yeah I tried that way back when I signed up in 2003 and it didn't work then either. I just try and remember what I post.

I don't know if we oughta get emails but I thought it'd be something like a PM notification or a special sign or pattern (or even just a change in the color of the thread) next to the forum title and/or the thread which I'd answered to, like the "new" warning next to the topics you haven't read yet
.

I'm happy to admit that this forum does have afew bugs - most are exagerated during peak times.
I'm not happy to live with it though & an upgrade is on the cards.
Meanwhile please understand that it's an old forum & has a few rattles & noises at times ...

an upgrade, really? i mean, the switch from
ultraboard
to YaBB was a smart switch, but who would you go to next? phpbb, doesen't have the capability of YaBB (i know this from my forum).
but if you want to switch, I'll support and help if you need it.

Nope - new version of Yabb- only so far the attempts to convert have failed. Will have to crack this one way or another.
& just to say again - the guys behind Yabb itself have also tried to upgrade us & have so far failed to convert our Yabb to the new version. It's due to the size.

I think what is a big factor in size is the "moved" posts and the "locked" posts. no one's going to reply to those, so it's just hogging up server space.
another idea, suggested before, is to have people in the forum start tagging what could be useful and helpful to the forum. sorta like the picture dump you do.
lots of us would be willing to help out with that, you dont even have to ask.

So, is Yabb one of those free boards like phpbb, or is it all done manually?

That's really weird, I received the notifications for the replies to this topic but I never checked the "check this if you want to be notified...." ???

Paul, I think he is speaking about replies to his topic.
As for having friends, I think you must be the friendliest guy on here! I reckon your email box is 1 million times that if you had kept them all.
