For bush flying, though i never tried it, I heard Carenado's Cessna 206 is a good choice.

I normally fly either Carenado's 182RG and Aerosoft's DHC beaver though.

Cheers,
RB

I think I am going to go with the MAAM DC-3 and R4D package. Looks really nice, and, I can get the XC-47 for free after I install it.

Now that is the most intelligent post on SimV!!!!!!! Grin

I highly recommend it as well as hundreds others will, awesome aircraft!!! Check out thier B25 also, they both were my first payware and also the DC3/R4D is still the first plane i grab when I feel the urge to fly.

That plus the fact that the monies go to the museum equals one deal that you can't beat.

If you look for a aircarft for bush flying I would recommend FSD International's Pilatus Porter. You shouldn't forget freewares too. Maule M-7-260 made by M.Maliniemi, K.Virtanen, I.Grant, R.Horelli, A.Swindle, S.Grant, T.Foosnes is probably one of the best bush aircrafts if not the best one.

MAAM's DC-3 will be a great choice also but I'm not sure would it count it as an aircraft for bush flying.

Hahahahaha!!!!  don't mean to be rude, but that's funny, if you know the incredible history of this aircraft. Grin
The DC3 is still used extensively in remote areas because nothing else can haul the same loads in and out of the same kinds of strips. compare it to the Caribou, another large STOL plane... payload is about 3 tons for that bird, versus about six for the DC3/C47. And Goonies were flown way overloaded from short, muddy strips in Himalayan terrain during the "Hump" airlift period. with oxygen, DC3/C47 crews could haul overloaded planes up to 24,000 feet for ops in such rugged terrain.
Put turboprop engines on a Gooney, as some operators have, and you have a sick heavy-hauler bush plane.

Check this out (piston-powered DC3 hauling freight in Colombia):
http://www.flightlevel350.com/video_streaming.php?id=5424

Admittedly, that runway is pretty long, but they made a very nice short-field arrival, and got out of there with a safe margin, also. Note the way the tires plow through that loose dirt... I love that!
The MAAM-sim model is superb for this kind of flying in the sim, just like the real thing. In experienced hands, it's an excellent bush plane. Can't compete with a Porter or Courier for extreme STOL stuff, but with its payload capability it's in a class by itself.

To add to Rotty's excellent post, there's an interesting article in the latest issue of Aeroplane Monthly (latest for me, I just bought it) of the Basler BT-67 turboprop conversion.  The plane is in current service around the world, as a cargo carrier, fire fighter, all around everything ....  and as a cockpit photo shows " ... the glass panel belies the airframe's age, which can be up to 65 years old!" ...

The DC-3/C-47 is one of those few planes of which can truly be said, that the best replacement for it is another one.
