Thirty-three people were hurt during an evacuation drill in Hamburg for the new Airbus A380 super-jumbo jet.
One man broke his leg and 32 people suffered minor injuries during the exercise in which 853 passengers and 20 Lufthansa crew exited on slides in a darkened hangar.
The drill was a critical test for the doubledecker airliner, which will be the world's largest passenger jet when it begins commercial service. Airbus said the plane had passed its test, with everybody out within 80 seconds.
The European Aviation Safety Agency will order a repeat if it deems the trial a failure.
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

I dont see a need for retesting if they got out in 80 seconds which was the required amount for certification. The injuries were almost expected by airbus, just look at how high the top deck is.

As Craig said, this is an expected risk and why the participants are apparently given some renumeration. No one was seriously injured, and hence I expect the trial will be deemed a complete success as everyone was able to evacuate the aircraft in time. A broken leg would be minor, as the person could easily be helped away in a real emergency...

LoL
It turned out that this news accidently was released by airbus. The news that 30 people were injured was made BEFORE the test.. in case anything would happen.
After the test they accidently released this wrong message.
The truth is that just one man got injured with a broken leg.
Saw this corrected statement in the news yesterday
Embarrassing !!

One broken leg from 853 people jumping off a plane. That's not bad going.

It would be more impressive if the plane wasn't on the ground at the time.

With the size of that thing I doubt it would make much difference.

Good to hear it was only 1 insted of the 30 i heard on cnn.
If it came down to the real deal i think most people could deal with a broken leg as apposed to the other option
And if they plan to fit 850 plus people on that plane i think ill pass the chance to take a trip on one
Coach is crowded enough on even small airliners

Airspeed: 600. Altitude: 35,000.
Evacuation sounds like a feasible option.
