Has anyone seen this vid? http://rapidshare.de/files/16545247/spaceshot2.wmv.html

Does this mean that in FSX, we will have the ability to break the almighty 100,000 ft barrier?  I shure hope so, and if so, I think this would really enhance FS, as it would also probably introduce all kinds of new flight dynamics, like we have seen in orbiter, or X-Plane. Wink Smiley

It was also mentioned before, but look at how the earth is curved, does that mean now more cylindrical projection of the earth?  Looks interesting....Wink

to me it seems the 100,000 feet limit is still in place, they've just changed the way textures behave as you climb.

I have a very stupid question.

Can you please elaborate on how to download the video?

EDIT:

Never mind, I figured it out.

I believe that M$ did, at the very least, raise the barrier, for once. The barrier was one of the hot topics in the FS community and many people demanded it to be raised.

So, unless M$ decided to make the Earth fall rather than let the viewer increase in altittude, I see no other plausible conclusion that M$ has most likely listened to the community in regards to the barrier.

Got it over on the LOMAC forums.  I think it is FSX, it incorporates all the new stuff we've seen so far, and the scenery looks exactly the same as the screens of it.

Got it here....http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=15032

Boy that is really interessting, Not that it can be done, but by M$ mixing the availability to add somewhat space is really different. Most people would think that to just fly in a space sim like orbitor. But I would like to see more of this, this will also open a area of new design and aircraft physics, somewhat a new dual air file etc.... Grin

HOLY COW!!!!   if it is FSX that will be amasing. I know some of you are like "im happy at 2000 AGL" but for some of us who like to recreate things  this will allow so much more. We can now have  the space airlines sort of thing. The new buzz is the personal space flight stuff. Take off from one airport orbit and land on the other side of the earth in under 2 hours, as i said it opens up SO much more in flights. And we can also recreate some of the X flights now,  or like the shuttle landing challenge it can now be the space shuttle approach/ landing challenge.  not totally related to space flight and not totally related to flight. its a bit of both worlds,  or rather a bit more of our world  Grin

and the curviture looks real nice too  Cheesy

now the big question,  was it REALLY FSX?

If it is FSX, then it would seem that M$ is playing a game of "catch up" with Laminar Research's X-Plane. FSX seems to be sticking with the old motto "as real as it gets" [finally].

Physics should be easy...after all it's purely ballistic above the atmosphere.

It is going to open a whole new avenue of exploration in FS...

Because Flight Simulator must do much more than just render the Earth, the terrain engine can’t monopolize the CPU resources of the host system.  Adequate resources must be reserved for the other aspects of the game such as aircraft and vehicle simulation, artificial intelligence, multiplayer communication, and rendering of the aircraft, buildings, and other non-terrain entities in the scene.

I think I've been stuck in the virtual garage for too long because I noticed the word "vehicle" in that sentence. Roll Eyes

The mesh when you are near the ground looks no different from my fs 2004 sim with FSGenesis mesh installed....... but the spherical Earth makes a huge difference.

It looks great, and I think that even if you can only go into low earth orbit or something, its gonna be nice to get some craft of the future, such as Space Ship One.

I really am more intrigued by the atmosphere color change AND the SPHERICAL WORLD!

I call fake on the picture.. thats not flight simulator.  The parking brakes logo has been added on.  In flight simulator the log is at the bottom left but here there is some black beyond it.  Also since when did fs9 have cross hairs.  Looks more like a modified orbiter or simlar screenshot.
