Hello.
I've been going through, and I've installed Nicks prop dust and Nicks Wet to all my standard FS9 Aircraft. This was prety easy, because it was only a matter of cutting and pasting the new code into the appropriate cfg files.
the problem now is that I would like to add the effects to some of my extra 3rd party aircraft. I tried to read the instructions, and it makes my head want to explode. I dont know anything about cfg files or code, and I dont understand how to properly alter the files.
Could anybody help me out?
Thanks for your time.
Cheers,&&Mark

I'm confused.
You state: " . . . it was only a matter of cutting and pasting the new code into the appropriate cfg files. "
then you continue: "I dont know anything about cfg files or code, and I dont understand how to properly alter the files."
So, which one is it?

You are making a simple task seem hard. If you managed to put nicks prop dust effect in other aircraft then you should have no problems with putting it in the others. All you habe to do is to change the numbers in the lines you added in other planes. If you noticed the only differance from plane to plane was some of the numbers that were used. They tell FS where to put the effect in the right place so it looks right.
So all you have to do is to change the approiate numbers and you can put it on any aircraft. 8)

I really dont know very much about cfg files.
The Nicks dust program came with the appropriate changes that needed to be made to the stock aircraft. There was no need to add numbers. It was a matter of copying from one file and pasting to the other.
The part I dont understand is how to properly alter the other aircraft files. I understand that I have to add afew new lines of code and alter others, but Im not sure what to change them to.
I hope that is alittle more clear

Go to your main FS aircraft folder and locate the Extra 300S. Open up the aircraft.cfg using Notepad (Right Click-->Open With-->Notepad). Press Ctrl+F. This will bring up the "find" option. Type in 'smokesystem' and press enter. Check the list of files under this entry.
This is how the smokesystem works.
The numbers correspond to where the smoke emits from. The numbers are a reference to the aircraft's center of gravity (CoG) which would take more time to explain than I really have.
To try this, just copy the smokesystem from another aircraft (with similar characteristics as your intended subject) and paste it into the aircraft's config. Now go in and out of FS, each time moving the points in the config file. Just remember, the first set of numbers are immaterial: they are overridden by the smoke file itself. That number refers to the distance fore and aft.
Try it out, and let us know.
