Why is Abacus still alive? Their products look like crap...at least for me...very basic visual models...and FS98-ish models.. Roll Eyes

Well, their EZ Scenery I hear is excellent...and many like their repaint program. Not everything Abacus releases is 'crap'

Its more for the entry level hobbyist in my opinion, who dont want to deal with systems accurate and very detailed computer halters. Abacus although not as pretty as say a PMDG or Captain Sim is pretty much going to run on most machines.

Nothing wrong with that. Plus as a whole they are relatively inexpensive as far as payware goes.

If you even SUGGEST that the WW2 Carrier Operations F6F-5 is "crap"  I'll show you what "crap"  is....    Grin

Actually, Abacus has a lot of "old"  airplanes and packages still on the catalog, but the latest offerings - Airbus Experience, Airbus A-380, Commuter Express 2 (just released) are of better (admittedly, not PMDG) quality.

The packages are only as good as the modellers make them.

Also, you have to consider that many of the Abacus packages have an extra - for example, with Commuter Express 2, you actually start the program by choosing the commuter airline, route and airplane - and then FS is started up for you, at the airport, etc.  The Cirrus included in Air Taxi Pilot, okay, isnt as good as Eaglesoft's but again, you're getting several airplanes and a " routing" program.

I hesitate to throw a blanket qualifier.  The latest (and a few that are in the works) offerings from Abacus are quite up to par (or better) that the current state of the art.

I have EZScenery and I loooove it!!!!

I took Aerosoft's Freight Dog Scenery of Stewart, British Columbia and made it into a totally awesome bush airfield.

I am a very happy bear that I finally got it after months of deliberating!

Got screenshots? Smiley

You know I have used Lagos FSE for many moons, and have been hesitant about the EZ Scenery, but is it easy to work with and learn? I dont have the money for it yet as my father mailed me his old car and since its not so old, its a taxation money sink, so finances have been strapped yet again...but oh is it a smooth car *drool* I get it tagged tomorrow

But we're talking about EZScenery, which is not a modelling program, but an object PLACEMENT program.

Initially, there some really neat blowups happening - while the object would be placed  and seen correctly in FS, sometimes the object, while viewed under EZScenery (beta) would be "exploded"...

Anyhow, I'm not much of a scenery person, so my being able to actually position an object anywhere is, in and of itself, a minor miracle.

I dont buy much payware, but as was said earlier I definately would consider EZ-scenery and their Repaint program.  EZ-scenery seems like a good program.  I wouldnt buy their planes as most are just freeware that designers allow abacus to sell.
