For giving us so much good music! I'm beginning to think most of the music in English I listen to comes from the UK. Sneaker Pimps, Portishead, Overseer, Dubstar. I'm always slowly discovering new music, and it almost always turns out to be British. Maybe Britons sing better.

I'll be sure to target one particular member of the Jackson five ASAP!
But at least they were pleasant to look at.

The Beatles started it in the mid-1960s. It was called the British Invasion. Up to that point 'pop music' was mainly US infuenced. Strange as the British groups were heavily influenced by US music & musicians. It's a funny old world.

Right. It was the music of Jimmy Reed, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters and others in that era that influenced them. 8)

Hate to be a "British" Party Pooper but you can't forget Ireland. The Boomtown Rats, U2, Van Morrison (So what if he's Northern Irish?)...
Disclaimer: No I'm not Irish, just in case you thought I was.

Nothing wrong with Irish bands. You forgot Thin Lizzie.
PS. Van Morrison never did anything for me. I must be missing something.

Don't forget the more recent contributions. Radio Head and Muse. I know Radio Head haven't done much lately, but I've just discovered how awsome they are and can't get enough.

I love Sir Bob, you probably hate him due to Live Aid and Live 8. I myself love the Boomtown Rats.
