This is a quick review of the Stargate Wars website.

Servers:

The site has three working servers and each one works somewhat differently then the other.

I. Main Server - Slowest pace in terms of how much you produce per turn [each is measured by minutes] and how much you produce per turn is determined by how many troops you have assigned to produce resources. Each turn in this server lasts for thirty minutes and then begins the cycle again. The resource in this server is Naquadah [Nah-qua-duh] and is the key element in all of your technologies [regardless of race] and is even required to train your troops.

Troops are recruited automatically every day and the number of troops [or bots if you're a replicator] you recruit is determined by the level of production you have. All levels are upgradable including attack strength, defense, and spy capabilities. Another name for spying is "covert".

II. Quantum Server - Works very much like the Main Server, except each turn is roughly sixteen minutes. In both servers, you join as either the Asghard, Tauri, Replicators, or Goa'uld.

III. Chaos Wars Server - Works differently than all the others. This one is population based and it uses naquadriah [nah-qwah-drea-uh] as the currency. Here, you have a much longer list races to join. And like any other server, each race specializes in certain fields.

Each race is run by a leader and the leader is the one collects a tax on both the population you gain every day and the amount of naquadriah you gain per turn [which is twenty minutes]. The taxed amount goes to a vault that belongs strictly to that particular race that the leader represents. And every once in a while, the leader uses that vault to give you a random upgrade of technologies. It's pretty much similar to the way taxes work in the US in real life [except there's no politics involved].

That's where the sense of community comes into play.

The is also one more thing to discuss. The Protected Planets Treaty [PPT]. Each new member of a race is immediatly put under the protection of the PPT and the treaty can only last for so long [measured in thousands of minutes]. During that time, you can build up your resources and your army. Once you have run out of minutes, the PPT is over for you and then you are immediately exposed to hundreds of players who want to pillage your resources in many ways. Note: You forfeit the treaty the moment you take military action of any kind while under the protection of the treaty.

The Chaos Wars server is the only servers that uses teamwork at a large scale.

NOTE: The forums use seperate accounts than the servers. That way, you can make up a different name than the one used in the servers so that your enemies won't know who to attack if you decide to tell how much resources you have and what your defenses are.
