Interesting request, but would it be possible to put in a check box option for the Private messages portion of the site? I sometimes build up alot of messages before deletion, but there are certain ones I dont want to remove so of course empty inbox is not an option.
Other sites give you the tick boxes to save having to go one at a time.

Aye, that would be nice. Especially how it takes forever to delete individual messages.

I suggested this a few years ago, and I think Pete's reply at the time was that it is part of the YaBB program design and he has no control over that...

What I do from time to time, is to File->Save As and it saves as a complete html file, just like online, with images etc.
Then, I clean out the inbox.
I can then, at leisure, delete the postings I really don't need.

I've used this method for years. Open your PM Inbox & click File/Save As on your browser menu bar. Save it under a specific file name in HTML format. (Something like PM Inbox1 or whatever you wish.) Then empty your Inbox. Do the same with the Outbox. You can then read your old PMs offline whenever you wish. You can do the same with any webpage or forum topic.

Otherwise I would have a few hundred messages, and it would take forever to load

At 470 messages it was taking 2 minutes for it too laod with me. UNfortunately I didn't know of any other way than loosing them forever - and that would never happen. I always deleted by outbox though. Never bothered about keeping what I send.

I delete the contents of mine annually. I don't get many PM's so I don't really need to do it any more often.

Get into the habit of keeping copies of anything you put in writing. You never know when it might come in useful.
