I don't think money comes into it. I don't like a band for how popular they are, but whether I like their music or not. Don't care whether it's mainstream or not. If they fill a stadium, good for them. I couldn't go and see Foo Fighters because they'd sold out within a day. I couldn't go and see the Chili Peppers because they're tickets were a little too expensive, seeing as they're that popular. And besides, every band that I've been to see has virtually filled the place anyway...

And who mentioned Slipknot? Tongue

although there type of music isn't one that i like, the songs i've heard are quiet good.

and to be quite honest, i'm off to see a band in april called Mostly Autumn who are playing a gig at the brindley in runcorn, there not a well known band but there music is on par with nightwish and within temptation, also with the brindley being a big ish (less than 300 seats) place its the ideal place to go.
Belinda Carlisle played here last year and did most of her songs acousticaly (typo) and as it wasn't a big place it had more of an atmosphere than some of the bigger gigs i've been to i.e download festival and the unholy alliance tour (slipknot and slayer)

nemo......

Hey Chili Peppers are big words,I like them and they deserve the place to be One of the best Rock Bands ever as U2 BIG WORDS Shocked
see we can't be so close to others choice,we can't denied that BEP is on the top,They are for a simple reason,  there are many people in this world who likes them.
I never could say that for example System of a Down is a bad music Just because i don't like them(is an example I like their music),it would be very selfish, anyway I like the good music of any kind or Type

I don't like BEP, but I'll watch their videos while the T.V. is muted, just so I can see Stacy Ferguson.

I never understood why music can't be reused.  If it sounds good, hasn't the mission been accomplished?  It isn't a religion, it's music.  I'd be honored if someone liked my stuff and decided to redo/remix it.

I think music can be covered if you do something good to it, like the heartbeats song by Jose Gonzales, who made the original song so pure, it's almost magical.

But than again, you have people like Madonna, who just take a popular sample and use it unaltered. To me, that's the laziest form of music, especially if the performer has such a long career allready. If you take a very popular tune, it will be a hit again, no matter what you do to it...

This is exactly what I can't understand.  Why must it be analyzed?  If it sounds good, isn't it enough?

The Boomtown Rats were originally labelled as a punk band. How things change. Roll Eyes

Why do we need all these labels anyway? It's all music.

Same thing with AC/DC. My mom said back when they came out, if you listened to them, you were so rebellious or a druggie or whatever. Now they are "classic rock". Roll Eyes

Still good though. Smiley

Well, I call them "Classic" Punk Rock, in that it's one of the originals (i.e. The Clash, The Sex Pistols, etc.), but when you compare the originals to the newer ones today, the originals are much much better.  The new ones are pretty bad, and I hate the style of music (it's incredibly whiny and annoying).
