taking time in starting windows (Read 380 times)

hello friends the day before tommorow my opreating system was loading very speedly as it was taking only 3 lines to start but now it is taking 7 lines to start....i havent change anything...can you kindly guide me how to start it like it was before......my specification

AMD athlon 64 3000+
1 gb ddr ram kingston
geforce 6600 256mb
msi k8n mainboard
400W PSU

here the lines refer to the blue lines which comes when booting win XP.

Empty your windows/prefetch file.  It fills up with stuff not needed sometimes, XP will put the stuff it needs back in over time.  The stuff not needed will stay deleted. Wink

Just defrag before you do delete them, then when XP puts new ones back in they point to the right place on the hdd.

yahooooo!!! thanks delta now windows is taking only half line to start windows means only 4 seconds to boot from start up.thanks again
