Hi all I downloaded the yak 18t from avsim  yakovlev_yak-18t.zip First what a fantastic plane BUT the problem I am having is keeping it cool. I have read all 47 pages of the read me document but still can't keep it cool. Taxiing from the GA parking to runway 28 at Blackpool (UK) the cylinder head temp was well into the red ( over 300*c)  Grin as I started the take off run the engine quit due to overheating. Shocked ??? Help Please.
P.S The cowl flaps were full open!!!!

try keeping the propeller pitch at half or 3/4's and make sure you have enough runway for a low power setting and make sure the mixture isnt to thin. Grin Or ask your local aircraft parts dealer for JATO Tongue

What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....&&&&&&&&&&                        The GMax effect... The GMax effect

Known problem. Fix is coming, but i have no idea what the progress is.

OK first the checklist (there is one in the readme, but that listst the actual values and not the buggy ones in FS)
For any operation on the ground, (and anything under normal cruise levels): open the cowl flaps completely. Don't keep them shut as the manual says unless the temperature gauge refuses to move on 40% RPM setting.
Don't takeoff with the temperature in the 'high' yellow, because you can't make enough speed to get the engine to cool down enough to climb to a cruise altitude.

Max Cruise: max throttle, prop at the big marker at 70%. At the moment this is the maximum climb setting that doesnt overheat, and the maximum cruise setting that doesnt go into overspeed at small wind changes.

Lowest Eco cruise: throttle to around 750mbar then lower pitch to the 60% maker.

As soon as there is a way to fix it i'll post an update, but it seems they are going for a full update path instead of fixing the dynamics (as the temperature stuff works reasonably well inflight)

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here
