Hi All,
This is my first posting in this forum so a big thanks to all those from whom I have gleaned ideas. I have seen some very helpful hints and tips, thanks!

I have been a pilot since 1987 and frankly have not been very impressed with M$ flight simulations until FS2004.  The scenery is actually better in FlyII than in FS2004 as is also the route planning.  Despite many attempts pushback turning left or right still only works for me intermittently.  As for ATC thats much better than before but they pay no attention at all to actual SIDS and STARS!! Also spotting the taxiway to turn off whilst thundering down the runway with full reverse thrust is something of a lottery! However,  in other respects I am content especially as I am able to fly my favourite aeroplane the ‘Super VC10’. It models the real aircraft very closely in all respects!

“Fly to the Olympics” As you may know the Winter Olympics are currently at Torino in Italy. So why not fly here!!  The airport is called Caselle.  You can download a great airport completely free at.
http://www.vvtorino.it/italiano/intro.html

It comes complete with mobile fingers etc., and it’s a very nice model. The install puts everything in the right place but when you activate make sure that ‘Caselle’ is higher up the list than the ‘add – ons’ directory
Happy Flying, Vololiberista

I had the same idea as you, and am doing a tour of italy and my first stop happened to casselle. It then dawned on me that that was torino. The alps are great fun to fly over although the default scenery could be improved.

The Alps LOD10 terrain mesh by Holger Sandmann is a great scenery improvement.

There's also a minor update for the mesh on page 77.

Thanks for the invitation, Vololiberista and the link to some intersting Italian addons. I've been flying into Torino, LIMF, from all quadraants for the past week. We even took a HC412 helo up Monte Sises after visiting Sestriere and moving into France at Talard.

Thanks again for your cheery post and file links.

Wow, what nice addon scenery. Quite amazing. The Terrain sure gives the place a lift. I installed it:

Torino
Casselle
Piedmont
Terrain Mesh
Looks good, thnx

Hi,
To find to downloads click on the ‘Welcome Screen’ – ‘Benvenuti nella città Olimpica’. On the next page headed ‘Volo Virtuale Torino’ scroll down to the bottom until you see ‘Search’ and in there enter ‘caselle’.

Alternatively, under the heading ‘Sezioni’ click on ‘download’, then under ‘Flight Simulator 2004’ choose ‘Scenari’ then on the left click on Torino Caselle. Look at the screen shots and then if you’re happy click on download. It’s a zip file and inside you will find the usual setup.exe.

It also comes with a pdf file in which at the end there is a diagram of the ramps and the requencies to operate the fingers. Also if you are  flying a light aircraft there is a hangar that you can open and park inside!! Any other probs don’t hesitate to post them and I will try to help or translate. I think the scenery used to come with the Aeritalia file, but i have seen the updated correct file elswhere on the site so i will post it's location here when i have pinned it down

PS Torino Olimpica is a very new download and i think only relates to the city. (it may still have some bugs)

" . . . it as it is in a foreign language!"

Thank for drawing
this to my attention; I didn't even notice  Grin

Copy&Paste any Italian copy (text) into BableFish.com and it reads pretty good. It's all redundant as the d/l come with EXE Installers so all one has to do is double-click it. Remember to ADD the scenery from the Scenery Library in FS9

Thanks again to Vololiberista, et al.

I found what i was looking for and i ran the setup.exe fine and i can find the files in the addon scenery folder. when i fly there though nothing has changed. anyone have any ideas. I am guessing that this could be caused by limited user status on win xp but that is a guess.

Hi  FSNovice

I had some trouble at first too. The way to do it is as follows-
activate  add-on scenery
then from within the add on folder activate Caselle
then move caselle higher up the list eg

1. Caselle
2. Add-On
3. Everything else

If you don't do this you will either get the proper terminal buildings with M$ taxiways or the caselle taxiways with the M$ terminals.

Hope to see you in time for the closing ceremony lol!!

Hi FSNovice
OK, the best thing is to do an uninstall as follows:-
In the main Flight Simulator 9 folder you should find a file called Uninstal_Caselle.exe
Run this then run FS9 and delete any reference to Caselle in the Scenery library.
Close FS9 and reopen so that it builds a new database
Close it again
Reinstall Caselle airport
Open FS9 and in the scenery library click on add area
If the folder addon scenery is not in your library then add it
Then click on add area again
Open the addon scenery folder and within is Caselle
Add this too
Then move Caselle above the addon scenery in your library
All should then be well

I think the problem is my mistake. before only a program ran but now a .zip folder is downloading so let's see if that works. Thanks for the advice so far.

Hi
The file you are looking for is called
Caselle2004.exe
This installs into the addon directory.
In bocca al lupo (Good luck)

VVT_Torino2006 is the name of the scenery after it's auto-installed. The Terrain etc., uses the same naming convention so this means when searching in the Addon Scenery folder, one must look at the very last (alphabetically) files. That is Victor Victor Tango_Torino2006

Remember: the scenery must be Added from the World Scenery options after opening FS9

Hope this helps.
