I have developed a technique to show tire compression under weight or load. As suspension up/down movement occurs, the bulge will get smaller/larger. If anyone is interested (practical or not?) I have the gmax source available here. You may use any part or all of the gmax parts. Credits appreciated but not required.
http://www.flightsimonline.com/mas/tca.zip
Here is how it's done in gmax.
This is how it looks at frame 180 with suspension near max compression.
These are the two parts necessary, shown at frame 100
The parts are linked to the lower suspension movement. As suspension is compressed from weight, the two parts spread apart and protrude like a bulge through the tire. As suspension extends through lift or hanging gear, the parts close together.
The bulge looks a bit obvious here but blends nicely in FS. Applying material to the tire is good but use NO specular as it destroys the effect.
No tricks here at all. If tuned correctly the only condition is that the aircraft is on the ground with suspension compression. I recommend using frames 120 start-180 for max bulge. Proper suspension setup is required so that maximum advantage is gained from this effect. No XML required for this.

I sure am, I've had a thought and was interessted in taking this challenge on, I will be welcome to read your instructions for this. Does the wheel actually compress while on taxi or is that just for park, I'm thinking it's a XML file but dunno And thank's for all the work you've done Milton.

Brilliant Milton! Now can this be translated to FSDS?
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Directly. There's no "hocus pocus" involved.... just two additional "x_gear_is" and "x_gear_is" parts, linked to the x_gear_nnn compression part.
The two _is and _os parts simply "hide" inside the tire part until about frame 120 and then they are keyframed to maximum lateral expansion at about 180, with "static" bulging at frame 150.
The beauty and brilliance of it is that if you look at it in the modelling program, it looks like a pasted on "sabrina" .... but in FS it looks natural.!!

Excellent, Mr. Milton! This is a great idea, and I'm surprised it's so simple . . . although most brilliant ideas are . . .

If there is an modelling techniques award you'll have it!

Yes. It's a technique that's version independent - so long as keyframe animations are accepted.
