CFS3  Terpitz  mission ? (Read 1584 times)

Well  I  know  I  had  it ...  once...

then  in  one of my fits  of  rage,  tying  to get   the  new OFF installed  ( uncorrutped , that  is )
I  ended up deleting  the  old  CFS3  I had ,  and  wish  now  I  would have  saved   the missions  folder.

anyone  ever  fly  the  Terpitz  mission ,   or  possibly  know  where  I  could  find  it ?
I  loved  it ,    the  B25H  ,   booming  in  with  the   torpedo slung  under  it....
190's ,  109's  and   some  262's   circling in  like  vultures ,  made  it  a brutal  yet  satisfying  one  to  fly.

I f you  have  it ...  please  send  it  to me ?
or  a link ?

Sim-outhouse would be the best place to look and ask.

Well, good luck in looking there now. I've just tried and they appear to be down at the moment. Tongue

Try looking though the missions at Simviation. I would suggest the avhistory and groundcrew websites but they're all hell bent on historical accuracy and attacking the Tirpitz with a B25 with torpedos doesn't really fall into that catagory. Wink

HEHEHAHAHA,

I  actually  believe  it  was  a 46th  mission...  but  cant  be  certain...

also ,  I  am  in the process of  editing  up  some of  the Mossie mIssions,  I like  them ,  as  well as  those  Corsican  ,  but  seems   as  soon  as online in multiplayer ,  that  most   see a  flight  that  will  take  them  30+ minutes  to  arrive  at   the  action,  they  drop out...   and   that  takes  away  that  slot  in the potential  , for those  who hang in,   respawn slot.
Guess  I  may  try  to  submit them  here ,  as  "edited Short Attention Span Missions"
But  will ask  the  46th  and  GC  if  thats  ok , before  I  try.
I also  found  the   aggravation  of  choosing  one  or  another  of them,  after  getting   the  first  one  finished, in game ...  that   there  were   no notices  of  - non stock a/c  req'd ,    so   in  my  editing ,  I  altered  those   to use  STOCK only.
I  find  it  funny ,  I hardly  ever  use  the MS Front Page ,  with  the  exceptions of  this  sort of  thing.
I have  every download  available  for this game,  but  not installed  .  Wish  the  new  MAW  was  freeware....
it  looked   from the screenshots  like  something  interesting  to try.
But  that   goes  hand  in  hand ,  with  those  BETA  carriers....  wish someone  would  correct them  for this ,  so  I  could   dump  that  IL2/PF   ,  for  the CFS3 Pacific addon  that  would  make up.
I  may  consider   trying  to add  to  Korea add-on  the  beta carriers, so I  could  fly  the  'sair's  n  Cat's.      but  my  first  attempt  at  that  failed  miserably.

Any news on the Lancasters for CFS3 Mathias?

A somewhat essential for a raid on the Tirpitz me thinks!

You could do it with Fulmars, Skuas and Corsairs if you wanted to. Smiley

The Fleet Air Arm had a go in about 1942. Just before responsibility was handed over to the RAF.

Well ,
as to  the  original point  of this thread....
in  my digging thru  my desk drawer of archives,
I discovered a dvd disc  I had made ( thought I  had at one point ) where  I made copies  of my CFS2 & CFS3 , installed game folders ..... low and behold..  dropped  the disc into the drive....
WAHALLAH !  theres  that  missing Terpitz ,  ...and  an edited one where  I  added  some GC subs and ships !
PHEW ,  I did  several  searches....notta..  even  emailed Mr. Law,  in  hopes  of him knowing  where  or  who did it.
So  when I get  permissions,  I  intend  to upload  them here, I found ,  after  testing  them , in multiplayer ,   they  worked fine ,  the best  part  was  only the Host has to have those installed add ons, for all to see them.

Infact , the way  I  intend to do the files,  will be as a autoinstaller, for those  "challenged" with that  sort of  add on.

This brings up, as I type this...  the  one  complication of  those  added  ships,  that  will have to be included in the installer....   but  no problemo.
I have new methods  to my madness ,  and  it'll be fun to assemble this.

CHEERS !

Interesting, but being the pedantic type I am, it just would'nt be right without the Lancaster, not forgetting the Tromsø area scenery.

Having read "The Dambusters" - The story of RAF 617Sqdn, anything else in the mission just would'nt be right.

Good luck, I sincerely wish you well, but I don't recall any Lancasters for CFS 3 never mind Tallboy bombs.  Sad

I'll watch this space with interest!

They bombed it with Birds your saying?

The Fleet Air Arm part was Operation Source I believe.

I think that a Freeware Lancaster might persuade me to reinstall CFS3.  All we need to do is code an OBOE and H2S2 guage.

EDIT:  And search lights and flares (The bright glowey things, not the trousers).  Pathfinder missions would be fun, you could do them in in a Mossie, or trying to find a Dam whilst flying over the Ruhr Valley at 70 feet in a four engined heavy in the dark would be a challenge to say the least.

Who switched the lights off?  I can't see a thing.......  Hold on, my eyes were closed.  Oops, my bad...............&&...

Not a problem to 617 Sqdn It causes considerable grief whenever I try such antics in Just Flights Dambusters package, how those boys did it defeats me entirely.
Embarrassed

Pity CFS3 seems so limited in choice of freeware addons, especially when compared to CFS 1 &2. Shame.

I think it's a graphics engine problem.  Memoirs suggest that they could see quite well all things considered.  Darkness in FS is always pitch black, I have managed to read a news paper by starlight on a good night.  Moonlight is even brighter.

Search lights and flares are already avaliable and Groundcrew have been teasing us with a Lancaster for years.

You've really got to crank up the brightness/contrast on either your graphics card or monitor when flying at night. Accepted you can see quite well on a clear moon lit night but its still darn near impossible to spot a small fast moving aeroplane.

You get a Lancaster with the Firepower add on - it's on Amazon.co.uk for £4.99 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000A12T1/qid=1140974744/sr=8-1/ref=pd...

You get 2 versions, one of them with the 12000lb Tallboy.

All we need is for someone to create the Norway Scenery....
