Number plates from the Mini Coopers which starred in the classic 1969 film the Italian Job - alongside Michael Caine - are to go under the hammer.
The three plates are expected to fetch up to £20,000 in the sale at Cheffins auctioneers in Cambridge on 26 January.
They are: HMP 729G, which was also Michael Caine's prison number; LGW 809G, the gang's flight number and GPF 146G, from the Grand Prix Flag.
They were removed from the cars after filming and kept in private hands.
The getaway in the Mini Coopers through the streets of Turin is often voted the best movie car chase of all time.
"These are certainly a lot for the dedicated Italian Job fan - or maybe Michael Caine himself might be interested," said a Cheffins spokesman.
The Italian Job was remade in 2003 starring Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron (and I think it was rubbish).

I thought the new one was pretty good.  I'd have to see the original (I usually see the original before going to see a remake but I didn't for this one) before I compare them but I would imagine the original was better.

The only problem with the 2003 Italian Job was the original. If it wasn't for that it would have been a fairly decent film but it could never live up to what it was pretending to be.

That chase scene was good but, the best car chase in a film was the one in " Bullitt " with Steve McQueen.

Steve was in a 1968 Ford Mustang GT and the bad guys were in a 1968 Dodge Charger.

The best Chase scene in my opinion!! Wink

I would have to agree with that, especially since McQueen actually drive the Mustang.

That one gets major points for: the star driving; excellent driving all around; good editing. And the GT. Drool... and remember the dune buggy sequence in the original Thomas Crown Affair?
But if you've never seen It's a Mad, Mad. Mad. Mad World, check out the stunt driving: not really amazing chases, just some really crazy crashes, under conditions and with equipmentthat would have today's stunt men walking off the set in outrage. And nobody was seriously hurt... Grin
The stunt flying in that film is even crazier...  Shocked

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is a great movie.  Tons of stars.  It's the only time you get to see the Three Stooges in color.

And as for the 68 GT in Bullitt---  Double Drool!!!! Smiley

I had a 68 GT but, it was a coupe.  I like the fastback.
