Spa is dead because of local (and EU) regulations concerning tobacco adverts.
Same reason why with Paris Dakar nobody of the Gauloises sponsored teams showed up in their full race overalls before Morocco

I think perhaps your anger is a bit misplaced. Who excatly do you expect to pay for the sport if advertisers aren't allowed to advertise? It's not like F1 teams can survive only on hat and t-shirt sales. How do the F1 teams afford to attend and participate when they can't generate ad revenue?

Spa is my favorite as well but if the local governments make choices like they have then they have to deal with the consequences. My country's GP (USGP) has similar (though not identical) rules and I think it's a shame, even though I'm a non-smoker and can't stand second hand smoke. I do love racing though and somebody's gotta pay for it!

I think F1's future lies in the middle and far east. We in the west have clearly signaled that we don't want 'em here by slicing off their revenue stream.

thats rubbish chris....tobacco companies aint the only ones who will sponsor these teams, just that the tobacco mafia thow more money at people like ecclestone and get them to whine about it. i think duck has every right to be angry they are taking live sport away from people just so they can make more money and that greedy short arse ecclestone can buy his wife more shoes.

AGAIN ITS THE FANS THAT LOSE OUT.

sorry, but i lost interest in f1 years ago. i'd much rather watch wrc or touring cars, at least they are interesting
