Well here we go again for another SimV Great Race......Mobius is atop the leader board, but can he maintain his breakneck pace?
The up-coming Cairo Race will throw you out of your seat - say hello to "Tomb Racers".
The course this time requires much concentration, so listen carefully. Wink

1 ) Start at the active runway at Cairo Intl (HECA) in the default Comet, engines off please. We'll line you up, ready for the race, and when ready, fire the starting pistol. Follow a heading of 260, and hunt down the small airstrip HEEM.

Here is a small map of HEEM for navigational purposes:

2 ) Upon arrival at HEEM, T+G in the Comet. This is the important part: Two judges will be stationed at HEEM in 2 default aircraft. These are the "key" aircraft, and you'll need to remember their names. You can find them at either end of the RWY at HEEM, so keep a look out! Wink Within 10 minutes of finishing the race, PM Clipper or myself with the "keys" - the names of the aircraft.

3 ) Follow a heading of 205. You should now be heading to the Pyramids at Giza. Pass between the two pyramids, and make a turn to a heading of 166 and head to two pyramids in the distance. We'll have a judge stationed there too so you don't get confused over which pyramids to head to (there are quite a few pyramids around there! Smiley)

4 ) Upon arrival at the pyramids, land in the area marked with the small runway you see in the pic just below and turn off your Comet's engine. Switch to the default Extra 300S, and takeoff on a hdg of 014 (a small runway has been added to the next image). Race around these pyramids in an anticlockwise fashion, as shown:
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/cairorace4
At the peaks of the pyramids, two judges will be stationed at 1,200ft. Do not fly above the judges - keep it low and quick. Wink

5 ) After 8 laps of the tight course, turn to a heading of 007, and you should now be facing some more pyramids. Over these pyramids you now face, barrel roll over each pyramid, waving "goodbye" to the Pharoahs.

6 ) When you reach the river Nile, follow it North. Soon, you should come across a series of bridges, these being #1,2 and 3:

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/cairorace6.1
These 3 bridges make up the "Triple Bypass". Are you up to it? To execute this procedure, you must fly under bridge #1, OVER (and barrel roll) bridge #2, and under bridge #3:

Now, make a left turn on a hdg of 249 and land at HEEM. Shut off your Extra's engine, hop into your Kingair and power up those engines to the "Desert Finale".....

There might be some confusion about where exactly to land since there are no landmarks.  Is it okay to just set down somewhere between the two pyramids to change planes?

Does it matter which end of HEEM we approach from?

Yea, anywhere inbetween, but the same heading (I added the little runway for effect Cheesy)

Nope, but when you make the turn into HEEM you'll probably want to land as soon as possible and change aircraft - from this heading, you're almost set up for an approach. (refer to the map of HEEM and look at the last two bridges of the "Triple Bypass") Wink

The runway you drew on the map is just a teeny bit inaccurate, bearing 014 is almost a direct line between the two pyramids.  I've been practicing my landings there this morning, it's going to be a mess!  The brakes on the DH-88 are terrible, people are probably going to overshoot and end up way outside the landing area.

Edit: Oh, I've just read the instructions more carefully.

It doesn't actually say to land in any specific direction, only to take off on 014.  That makes a big difference Smiley

Sounds like an operating technique that surgical doctors use. Grin
