I think that shot with the cruise boat is very impressive.  I have doubt that it will run that well on my system, but it looks very nice.  The scenery (including the boat) is just amazing.

Tsk tsk. It's a Super Yacht. Not a boat.

Some I've seen, some I havn't. I wish they would say where the shots were taken, so I could make a direct comparison. Even so, it's obviouse that the scenery is much better. Like someone said, the farmland actually looks like farmland. I fly over corn and bean fields all the time, so I know how it should look. Wink

Will this new FS run on my system (specs below)? I'll bet FSX was written for Vista, which I am reluctant to install considering I don't know all that much about XP Home...

emachines T6212; AMD Athlon64 3800+ (2.40 GHz; Venice core); Allied AL-B500E 500W power supply; 2048Mb PC3200 DDR400; Westinghouse LCM-22w2 wide-screen LCD monitor; eVGA e-GeForce 7900 GS KO X16 PCIe video card; Logitech Extreme 3D Pro flight controller;&&Cyber Acoustics CA-4100 4-channel digital sound with 5 speakers; 300 Gb external hard drive in an enclosure; Windows XP Home; 3 Mb/s AT&T/Yahoo! DSL service; Microsoft Intellipoint trackball; Supergate EC-2000 multi-media keyboard. Epson CX-7800 Stylus all-in-one printer. I'm considering a new system next year.  Since FSX is not coming out til late this year i'm not even thinking about building a new system now.  I will even leave it a bit and wait until the GFX cards are optimised for FSX before building. Wink

Dual core GFX cards and quad core processors should be out by then.  I expect FSX will support atleast 2 cores.  Since FSX is still in development and quad core processors are coming out soon, i don't see why there won't be atleast a patch for quad core.

My system:Intel Q6600@3.6GHz, Corsair XMS2 4GB DDR2-6400 (4-4-4-12-1T) , Sapphire 7850 OC 2BG 920/5000, X-Fi Fatality, Corsair AX 750, 7 Pro x64

You're system will run it. I can't say if it will run it smoothly with FSX with settings maxed out. How well does your system do with FS9? If your system doesn't struggle at all, I wouldn't worry as much.

On the other hand, my system struggles with FS9, so I DO worry about FSX Grin

My system doesn't struggle much. Only the cooling fans are struggling to keep up with the heat buildup [reving up like C-130 engines]. Hey, what do you expect from a laptop?

I'm thinking of letting my credit built up so that I can buy a fresh new laptop [built for hardcore gaming this time] that can run on Vista. I know, I know... desktops have more room. But my dorm room doesn't provide that much room anyways.

These are some really detailed images of the next level of Flight Simulator.

But you know what ticks me off about it. FS10 doesn't look that much different than FS9. It has better land, sea and sky textures. That is about all I give it at this point. Whose to say that Microsoft didn't just high speed buff FS9 to make it look better and are trying to pass it off as FS10.

We saw reflection on the water and on wet surfaces. Granted that is new technology who is to say that couldn't be an addon for FS9.

Then you have better landscape textures. Whose to say they couldn't have released those textures for FS9 to make it look much better.

FS9 was clearly a giant leap over FS2002. Much better scenery and aircrafts. But if you take a good look at FS10 it doesn't look any better then FS9. It looks like they just improved the textures and that is about it.

Lets be real, a newer version of MFS means that M$ still sucks and if designers can create addons to make it look much better then what we 've been looking at. That means it will look ULTRA real. That would be the only selling point for me!

We will have to stay tune and see where this is going!

Its only in your mind, strong mind, strong soul and nobody can take that from you!

Reflective textures on FS9 can not be done.  The graphics engine is DX8.1.  DX8.1 is not capable.  I agree FSX is more like an updated FS9.  Isn't FS9 just an updated FS8?  With nicer clouds and water? Wink
