Its a strange situation I suppose. The X-32 and X-35 were strange in that they can hardly be called prototypes, but more (proof of) concept aircraft (much in a similar way to the P.1127 and Kestrel were to the Harrier). The first "real" JSF will be the development aircraft when they eventually appear (next year or the year after or whenever!)... Smiley
