Okay, just gave up now.  I was on with Cloud9flyer and Rifleman, and me and rifleman kept having problems.  I dont know exactly what his was, but my fs kept having a CTD.

ANy idea as to why this was happening?

It could be closed ports, but that should only boot you out of the session.

Not neccessarily, having closed ports OR flying on the same server as someone with closed ports can contain all of the above problems you mentioned.

Not sure how to fix it though Sad

Hello Lads... Grin...!

I must admit that I have never had any problems with Multiplayer using WSPilots Server....!
I use the original version of Windows XP Pro with NO Service Pack add-ons of any sort...!!!

Neither do I use any form of Router...!!!

My Dial-Up Modem is connected directly to the 'phone line...!!!

Even with the original default Win XP Firewall automatically engaged, (as it does on boot-up), and Norton and AVG running in the background, I never experience any problems, (such as being thrown out of the connection!)... 8)...!

I just select the necessary Port Address in WSPilots for the particular flight, and away I go...no problemo... Grin...!
I don't even get involved with "opening" Port Addresses on my computer, (whatever that involves?)...!

I wonder if our lads who are having problems in Multiplayer have a set-up which is different to mine, and in what way...?

I often wonder if the Win XP Service Pack add-on's result in more trouble than they are worth... Shocked...!
(My Norton and AVG seem to protect me from any nasties!....)... Wink...!
...and anyone with a Router installed also seem to have serious problems...!

I would be very interested on any feed-back...!

Cheers Lads...!

Paul  The Trouble Free...Tee-Hee!... 8)...!

Well, the reason why I thought it was a port problem was cloud9flyer was flying MP for his first time, so maybe his were closed.  I dont think it was an internet problem, because I just got a CTD.

It's all covered in eno's tutorial at the top of this Thread...!

I suspect most, if not all, of the problems are caused by the installation of Microsoft's various Service Packs, with their associated firewalls...Shocked...!

Paul... 8)...!

P.S. I've never had any problems with my Original version of Windows XP Pro, (no Service Pack), and certainly no problems with Windows '98 SE... Wink...!

Do i have do that when on the default server?

Or is it just sites that say "make sure your firewalls etc. are down"?
