You're talking about the model here right?

The real Lightning had monster afterburners [I read somewhere that fighter jet afterburners were pioneered on the Lightning project] - but It had so much dry power that pilots were advised not to use it on takeoff as they could find themselves at 30 thousand feet before they regained control of their senses!  Wink

The Lightening certainly did have AB's, I was lucky enough to see them in action on an RAF base in the early '80's. Those Vulcan shots are superb, worth every penny that model!
